FML!! Clutch carrier/hub is broke

yup its an 05 chopper... i purchased this bike 2 years ago with 4000 miles on her... she's been a good bitch until now... started feeling the dreaded lurching september and finally got a chance to dig into the problem. the clutch carrier is broke. im thinking of going with the bandit bruiser after doing research on this forum but does anyone know if baker themselves actually warranties their "weak" part? mine say 3053 so im assuming its the old version not the updated 3054a. thanks in advance guys.

I doubt Baker is not going to help you out.

However there is hope. I switched over to a Bandit Bruiser last summer without to much hassle. Have an 05 myself. I did it before anything broke. In the process of the clutch I did have my transmission rebuilt because our 05's mainshaft is not reliable. I was told my bearings were on the verge of seizing up, wow! That is something I would look into while your are changing out the clutch. If you have any play at all in that mainshaft get it fixed.

If you need some guidance just ask away.

Baker will not warranty anything for you unless they recently sold something to you. If it was put on at the BDM factory, you're out of luck. The same goes for anything else on these bikes. Your talking 9 years old anyhow. No manufacturer will back their products that long. When BDM was going strong, they had a great 2 year warranty that covered everything. You can't say that for Harley.

Around the middle to end of 2006 I believe all the production bikes had updated.
Andrew,

Have you seen or heard of any additional cracking problems since the ugraded hub was put into production? Was that the only weak link in the clutch assembly?

thanks Andrew. I figured it was worth a shot. I see a few used carriers on ebay but they look like the old 3053 ones... did the new and improved ones actually have a 3054a stamp on them?

I went with just the Bandit carrier and kept my clutch for now to save a few bucks. Works great, altough pressing the hub out of the old and into the new is a trick. Freezers and ovens involved. Made a world of difference though.
