I was just making good fun with Andrew... he is my friend and also in May he is coming over to my place in Spain to do my Trans and other bits & pieces...
About the OP´s problem, we dont have much information to be able to diagnose with, do we?

Not to hijack this thread more than is has been but the screen name BIG-DOG-TECH-01 is in itself an intro, I think Franco is just stirring up the pot and needs a wrap up aside the head:lol: Better be nice to this guy or when he works on your bike he might slip a 385 cam in it to teach you a lesson.:roll: you'll have the fanciest scooter in the land:lol:

Like Andrew said, find out where the noise is coming from before you take stuff apart.

But on a serious note, I often wonder what happens to some of the guys that come on here and ask a technical question, we reply to it, and never here back from them again. Would be nice to know either way so it will help others in the future.
a noise thing and hearing it while riding, it can sometimes be hard to determine exactly where it's coming from. If it's making the noise while sitting at idle, you can usually pinpoint where it's coming from using a long screwdriver and placing the metal end to different locations on the motor/primary/transmission and placing the plastic handle end to one of your ears. The noise will transmit up through this tool just like it would through a stethoscope.

Thanks for all the input. I own seven bikes including the "06 K-9 and just bought an '08 Mutt with a wild no-clutch Baker 6 speed... Trippy to ride. I haven't had an opportunity to look at the '06 since I was getting my '05 Rocket III back on the road... I don't even want to turn it over again for rear of damaging something. 1st step, check the primary (easy). Second step, check the pinion nut. Third step, check the rockers. I've got those really loud roller rockers. Not my rear tank mount. When the motor gets warm, the rockers start clacking (much more noticeable from the left side) Sounds like it reverberates under the coil cover. I'll work on the intro thing. Don't want to dis anyone on here...

Regardless, this guy was nice about his question. He didn't come in and say Big Dog's suck ass and so sick of fixing it..bla bla bla. So we can at least offer to help with an honest question.

You're right Eric...this guy is respectfu.l too many newbies wanna 'shoplift' some free advice and then continue to bitch about BDM...
And in truth, some of the skilled wrenches in this forum absolutely love to help us less capable mutts who take instruction well and slog ahead with keeping our bikes correct. You guys provide considered advice based on years of experience. If it wasn't for the forum, I'd have to rely on a Harley mechanic's 'best opinion' for my Dog's most challenging issues
I am very possessive of this Forum...Franco is a great Sgt at Arms as far as I'm concerned.. I hope he continues to 'drone on'.lol:
