I am sooooo RELEAVED!!

OK so as many if you know I have been tinkering and fixing little and some bigger issues with the Dog lately. Well just thought I would share a bullet I dodged the other day!:whoop:

I have the TP Rocker Covers and as everyone one knows there have been some issues with these and some have not had any. Biggest thing is they tend to be a bit load and in some cases sound like they are low on oil ticking noise to them. Well I would have bet you $100 that the front jug was ticking like a time bomb and unless I adjusted the rods or reworked the top end I was going to loose it. :bang:

Well the other day it was nice out so I took a small ride and once you notice something like a noise like this it becomes all you can hear!!:loony: Well once again it was making it and seemed to be louder when I was at higher rpm's! Well I was just about to get frustrated and go home and wonder what the heck I was going to do next and for some reason I was riding with my left hand on the lower part of the tank down between my legs just cruising. Well for some odd reason I decided to lift up on the lower part of the tank just to check and make sure it was secure and low and behold the noise went away! I couldn't believe my ears so I went a little faster and got the revs up and did the same thing noise went away!!:whoop:

Low and behold it was not the Motor at all it was the tank vibrating!!!!:spank: I just could not believe it I swear it was coming from the front jug but now that I know the source of the noise I am needless to say VERY RELEAVED!!!

So it's gong to be 70 here tomorrow so I shimmed up the tank and am looking forward to riding to work and then taking a nice LONG ride home tomorrow night!:whoop::whoop::whoop:

Just goes to show you it's not always bad news with our Dogs!

Craig - Glad to hear it wasn't motor related, enjoy that nice NC weather while I'm at work tomorrow on Bragg.

However, we are going to Myrtle Beach this weekend....but rain is predicted.

Thank God for that man..... when I first started to read your post I got nervous as I also have the TP... I know my TP boxes are ones of those that will last forever (they fucking better be or it would be the end of it for me).

I think the TP issues are like the EHC issues.... some people never had any problems at all!!!!! I am still on my original EHC and the bike had been fucked around to be able to pass EU standards, etc. Fingers crossed...:D

Merry Christmas :whoop:

I had same problem years ago, I cut pieces of heater hose ( two), glued together and then but a little glue on underside and put on bar just under tank - back just far enough so you could not see. It has worked great for several years now.
