Hello all! Got a 05 ridgeback less a frame.. Is this Trans & primary a problem?

Energy One
So I traded my 86 sportster for almost all the parts from an 05 ridgeback.. I don't have the frame, however that's not my style of bike anyway...

My plan is to buy a stock or aftermarket dyna, fxr, or some sort of prostreet style frame and use the motor and trans.. I do not want to run a rear tire bigger than 200. However I keep being told that this rsd Baker will not work with what I want to do.. Are there any other options? What's one if these Baker 6speed rsd transmissions worth with only 800 miles on it? Would I be able to sell it and get enough to by a standard used lsd Baker 6 speed?

Anyway to modify it to work with a 200 rear tire?

Btw i will be selling, the seat, front end, wheels, and a bunch of other stuff that's just to heavy for what I want to do. Parts are in great condition.

I just bought one today for 750.00 with no primary. I'll give a grand for trans & loaded primary, or I can do some trading for a Baker LSD. Call me. 620-257-2009

okay trading sounds like the way to go.. i have some more research to do before i make a final decision but i will be in touch.

So what ignition do i run with this engine? i dont have the ignition system for it. doesnt use the typical cam cover ignition trigger. looks like there is a hall effects crank sensor type set up that i will have to use..

I can't speak for everybody. I just don't know if many folks on this board have done what you are asking. I'm far from an expert but I think there's probably far more HD owners who have swapped in S&S/Baker driveline pieces than BD owners who have swapped everything over to an HD frame.

Maybe you'd have luck looking on an HD forum for someone who has done the power plant swap? Sorry that's as far as my technical expertise can take us:zzsorry:

any ignition for a Harley (with a crank sensor) will work. most members use a thunderheart because that's what came stock but thunderheart also has an adjustable ignition module that is an upgrade to the stock Big Dog.

I used a Thunderheart ignition system in my S&S , I also used the thunderheart chopper wireing kit . I did it all myself and was very easy - one wire at a time . It works with Harley style hand controls.
Theres a new member looking for Trans and primary for a 05.
He has a rolling frame with a HD motor - he would be very interested in buying your BDM parts to use on his bike .
Look him up in the general forum - his thread was Harley Motor - Send him an E mail .
Would be great if you could help him out .

WELCOME TO BIG DOG BIKER ! Tim
