Hey all, still got this rubbing issue with drive belt on stock tire (180/55 R18). Have taken to 2 shops and axel, swingarm, bushes etc etc all good.

Was thinking about changing tire to: 170/60 R18. Thoughts ? Will this screw the gear ratio too much ?

Any help appreciated...

BTW - what a bugger BDM Performance gone...not that they were cost effective...

Is this a new tire or Did it just start rubbing?

You can go to a 170 if they make it? But if the tire all of a sudden started rubbing and wasn't before than u got s different problem. If it's a new tire it might just be slightly wider than the one you had before, different brand?

Hi nah was on when I got the bike but has definitely been rubbing for some time. From what I've read a 170/60 will sort it with no real gear ratio changes to speak of...where the hell do I source TouchUp paint will be my next post ? Thanks for your input...

What brand tire are you running? Before I changed my Husky to a 240mm my 180 cleared
the Avon by about 1/8" so it is close. There are a few other ways to clear than a different tire, but the Avon should clear. I think I read that a Metzler was a little wider.
You could change to a 1 1/8" pulley and belt, or small spacer under your pulley to move
the belt out to clear the tire.

Hi its an Avon on there already. Certainly a pain in the butt having to space it or change the pulley and belt (probably as much as a tire), pretty annoying as all parts are in alignment...

Have you checked the wheel spacers to be sure the correct ones are on the correct
side? I still have my OEM ones and can measure them if you need, they would be the same
lengh as the 03.

Hey have fitted the 170/60 and all appears fine. Made quite a difference to the ride without the belt rub going on...thanks for your help
