Saw a crack in the frame

Checked mine today and saw a crack on the lower left side. Dam! Will take some sandpaper and go over the area to see how bad it is. Will take some pics and post them.

One more to the list:down: I dont want to check mine, just afraid of find a crack on it.

Im thinking of selling my 08 ridgeback and get me a Harley, at least still on busisness.

Why you want a ¨PIECE OF ART¨if you cant ride it, because in any moment the bike will break apart also no available parts or warranty from the manufacturer:down:

your attempts to "incite a riot" are not appreciated. i am sure harley has had it's fair share of problems, including bad welding, but please do not kick Big Dog under the bus just yet. i am not saying that there isn't a problem, i'm just saying that every bike has it's own background and not all will respond the same (ie: cracks, broken trans. mainshaft, worn TP rocker boxes, etc.) Yes, everyone needs to be on top of preventive maintenance, especially now.

i'm surprised on a ridgeback,,,, the frame is 1 pc on the bottom,,, as opposed to the k9 it is cracking at the welded area

unfortunately, the only prevention is to not ride it. i wish there were something that could be done about it but there isn't. when a skoot is built outside what is considered "normal design parameters", lots of times, over-engineering falls by the wayside and shit happens that few thought about. maybe if they had used DOM tubing, maybe if they had plugged all joints, maybe if they had tempered the welds better; we can go on and on but that is in the past and there's nothing we can do about that now. all we can do is to protect ourselves by staying on top of the preventatives and be aware of the subtleties of our own bikes. but in the meantime, ya'll be careful out there. :(

When you go shopping for a Harley make sure you take a walk thru the service department.I was in one a couple of weeks ago.I was attending a bike show at a harley dealership and had to find the service manager to get a portable air tank after some smart ass harley nut case left the air out of my front tire.Any way the service department had so many bikes in it you could barley find a path to walk thru it.They have their issues also.

I agree with Tom. Every car, truck and yes motorcycle has it's issues. All this stuff is man made and weather you like it or not they have issues. My wife just got a new altima and she loves the car but the dealership after the sale issues are less than good. After they cashed the check they forgot about all that stuff, like they never ran the car through marta. Stupid crap! She likes the car we will work through the issues. Look at the upside to this " We don't have a dealer or manufactuer to fix it or raise hell at hoping to get some satisfaction. We fix em' ourselfs or take em' to someone how can or we chose not to ride em'. As much as I polish and wax on this ole' scooter I have a crack it the frame should show up like a wax build up thing on the frame.
It has left me stranded a long way from home too. Ah, but so has just about every vechicle I have ever owned. You tow em', fix em' and go on. The main reason my garage is full of tools and we have wrecker service on our stuff.

Preventive maintenance is the key to keeping all this stuff running like it should run!

The main problem here is not mechanical or electrical as you said you can tow the bike, with a BROKEN FRAME maybe you wont have the chance to tow it because it is a SAFETY issue.

It means you life and the others around you while you ride is in jeopardy.

The worst part is not because somebody is texting or talking on the phone or you did something stupid is because your $35000 motorcycle broke the frame.

Maybe i can expect that on $1500 chinese bike, but this is MADE IN AMERICA :flag:

Brother you need to sell your bigdog and get something else. Your going to wind up making yourself sick worrying about your dog breaking in half or not being able to get parts. Its not healthy. Buy something else....Harley, Honda, Segway or anything you can enjoy. Mine has let me down a time or two, but I still enjoy it and love to ride it. If I want to ride somewhere I just jump on it and go, no worries. I'll get home somehow, I always do. When I get to the point your at.....I'm selling

:(Are you sure Ridgebacks are involved also? I haven't run across a Ridgeback frame with a crack yet! Just a question.....

If I find a problem with mine, I'll fix it. Once you solve your issues, you can have the perfect ride....at least in my experience.

The next question is who made which frames?? Are they just the Daytec frames that are cracking? Or is is it a combination of manufacturers??
