Checked mine today and saw a crack on the lower left side. Dam! Will take some sandpaper and go over the area to see how bad it is. Will take some pics and post them.
your attempts to "incite a riot" are not appreciated. i am sure harley has had it's fair share of problems, including bad welding, but please do not kick Big Dog under the bus just yet. i am not saying that there isn't a problem, i'm just saying that every bike has it's own background and not all will respond the same (ie: cracks, broken trans. mainshaft, worn TP rocker boxes, etc.) Yes, everyone needs to be on top of preventive maintenance, especially now. :up:One more to the list:down: I dont want to check mine, just afraid of find a crack on it.
Im thinking of selling my 08 ridgeback and get me a Harley, at least still on busisness.
Why you want a ¨PIECE OF ART¨if you cant ride it, because in any moment the bike will break apart also no available parts or warranty form the manufacturer:down:

Seems to on both of themAre these frames ridged or the softails that are cracking?
unfortunately, the only prevention is to not ride it. i wish there were something that could be done about it but there isn't. when a skoot is built outside what is considered "normal design parameters", lots of times, over-engineering falls by the wayside and shit happens that few thought about. maybe if they had used DOM tubing, maybe if they had plugged all joints, maybe if they had tempered the welds better; we can go on and on but that is in the past and there's nothing we can do about that now. all we can do is to protect ourselves by staying on top of the preventatives and be aware of the subtleties of our own bikes. but in the meantime, ya'll be careful out there. How do you prevent a crack on the frame'?![]()
I agree with Tom. Every car, truck and yes motorcycle has it's issues. All this stuff is man made and weather you like it or not they have issues. My wife just got a new altima and she loves the car but the dealership after the sale issues are less than good. After they cashed the check they forgot about all that stuff, like they never ran the car through marta. Stupid crap! She likes the car we will work through the issues. Look at the upside to this " We don't have a dealer or manufactuer to fix it or raise hell at hoping to get some satisfaction. We fix em' ourselfs or take em' to someone how can or we chose not to ride em'. As much as I polish and wax on this ole' scooter I have a crack it the frame should show up like a wax build up thing on the frame.your attempts to "incite a riot" are not appreciated. i am sure harley has had it's fair share of problems, including bad welding, but please do not kick Big Dog under the bus just yet. i am not saying that there isn't a problem, i'm just saying that every bike has it's own background and not all will respond the same (ie: cracks, broken trans. mainshaft, worn TP rocker boxes, etc.) Yes, everyone needs to be on top of preventive maintenance, especially now.
Brother you need to sell your bigdog and get something else. Your going to wind up making yourself sick worrying about your dog breaking in half or not being able to get parts. Its not healthy. Buy something else....Harley, Honda, Segway or anything you can enjoy. Mine has let me down a time or two, but I still enjoy it and love to ride it. If I want to ride somewhere I just jump on it and go, no worries. I'll get home somehow, I always do. When I get to the point your at.....I'm sellingOne more to the list:down: I dont want to check mine, just afraid of find a crack on it.

Are you sure Ridgebacks are involved also? I haven't run across a Ridgeback frame with a crack yet! Just a question.....
If I find a problem with mine, I'll fix it. Once you solve your issues, you can have the perfect ride....at least in my experience.
