Dyno Results on a 2006 K9

Folks:
I finally pulled my 117 K9 yesterday and was happy with the results.
105 hp and 115 torque.
With a S&S .600 cam, XXX Carb, Powerpacc Backing Plate, V&H 2 into 1, stock timing/ignition. Jetting at .0295/.078
Torque comes on great 100 foot. pounds at 2,200 RPM and Grows to 115 at 5,500 RPM. HP peaks at 5500 RPM

Seems to be a good combination and is a very reliable bike.

Did the dyno use the gas analyser to see where your air/fuel mixture was???

I agree, seems a little low, I will have the same set up shortly and looking to get my bike dynoed. I thought it would be at least 110. My old stock 107 dynoed at 102 hp, if I get numbers like that I may dig a little deeper into the engine. I'm not an expert but guessing a different ignition other than the Thunderheart would help. Can't rewrite the thunderhead, so the story goes!

You say peak hp at 5500 rpm correct? What gear is your trany in when running at rated h/p?

These bikes are less than impressive hp per cube. His numbers seem around where they should be. I agree that the 0295 is way to small. The 78 is probably right on the money though. That is your power jet. I am running a .033 and my plugs are a hair lean if anything. Better check your cruising jetting. Dyno's are not the best indicator of drivability.

If you're aiming for good performance, as some of us are, I think 1 HP per cu inch is a good mark for a S&S engine - if you get that you got a decently tuned bike

Thats the way I think too!

And you have to be carefull gettting too much seperation between the int and main jets... it will create a gap in fuel flow and cause carb sneezing...

It was a freebie dyno pull, so no tuning was done. I wonder what the numbers would be corrected at sea level. We are at 2,800 ft. The dealer says that ignition would give me another 5-10 hp, then do major mods like heads etc. He also overlayed my chart against a screaming eagle 113 that had been remapped and the numbers look real close to mine. As far as the actual pull, they did it in 5th. gear

You can't forget drivetrain loss. Not a huge factor on on motorcycle but needs to be considered. He is probably over 1 hp per cube.

Gas, your right on with this -- I started with .031/76 went to .031/78 and all worked well - went back to .031/76 and it sneezes occasionally so .031/78 seems to be the right combo. :2thumbs: if I get any here I will goto a .03X next.

a loss of 12 HP through the drive train sounds a lot though - doesn't it? thats more than 10%
