Mystery oil leak.....

I cannot find the source of my oil leak!

I get a few tiny drops on the primary case, some misting oil on the oil filter and some misting oil on the front side of the air filter intake.

Also, whats really odd is I get some on the top of my tool bag which is located on the lower part of my downtubes, well in front of the motor?

Its not a fork leak blowing back or anywhere else that I can find. I thought maybe an exhaust leak as they will sometimes mist oil but thats not it either.

Any ideas?

are you loosing brake fluid? only other thing that far forward.

I dont think so, besides how would that put oil drops on the primary case side? thats a long way from the brake reservoir.

You know it may be a fork leak, that would put oil/mist in the areas I'm seeing it. I'll have to take a real close look at the seals. Its certainly not an obvious leak anywhere.

i had a mist of oil all over my primary, thought it was the fork leak but found that my lower jug gasket washed out on my front jug. had to replace all the top engine gaskets.

Are you talking about the rocker box gaskets and the lower cylinder gaskets?

I had the same thing and it was the rocker box gaskets.

I had a leak like that on the primary side and it was the rocker box gasket from the rear cylinder. Tightened it up and it went away.

Thanks guys for the input.
It seems there actually is a trace of oil under the front cylinder rocker box that may be the culprit.
They seem tight, however Im going to order a couple of new gaskets for replacement.
I'll let you know.....

Just a reminder for everybody, let the motor warm up sufficiently before revving up the motor.
