looks like you made your own mount...instead of buying the struts...more detail on that
Ya here again didn't want to spend all that money on another pair of struts either so looked into making my own mounts. Since the struts on my Ridgeback where not flat to where I could put the mounts directly onto the strut itself I had to look elsewhere. Luckily there is still room above the strut where I could mount it and drill thru the fender and still have enough room to get a lock nut on the bolt and not rub the tire! Hardest part was deciding to drill holes in my fender and paint job. But since I have something in mind maybe next year as far as a new paint job that made the decision easier.:2thumbs:

The actual mounts themselves are made of solid aluminum stock at 1"x2"x12" piece I happen to have laying around the shop. So no cost to me what so ever :whoop: I then cut (2) 1"x1"x2" pieces and squared them off to match. Then I just drilled 2 holes and counter sank them for the 2 bolts that I used to attach to fender. The bolts where Allen Head Primary Bolts that I had laying around (stainless chrome) and look and worked great. I then drilled the main hole for the 5/8" round sissy bar at a 20 degree angle to get the proper look and feel of where I wanted it. Then just rounded the edges and polished it up to make it look pretty! Of course I did all this on our Mill at work and also used the Lathe to do the points on the Sissy Bar itself. It definitely helps to have the right tools around for the job but you could make due with less or just have someone you know Mill them out for you about an hour job tops if you know what your doing.

Hope that answers your questions!

Wouldn't it be easier to weld the ends of two longer pieces together and bend them at the same time.

Once you get the shape lop the welded ends off.

Just a thought.
That's how I do it (Sort of). I drill and tap the mounting end then bolt them to a bracket side by side and clamp the other end. I made a press with rollers to make the bends (no Heat for the most part) then the two halves bolt in my fixture for welding.:2thumbs:
