So I still hate living in california... yet another reason.. Thought i found my mastiff but come to find out it isn't 'california emissions' (only good enough for the other 49 states) so I can't buy it

so... if this helps anyone else looking: Pat Clark motorsports in Vegas has three '04 mastiffs for sale, never titled/demo models (just 100 miles on the white one). White is 15750, blue is 16250, and purple/graphics is 16750... pretty good deals for "new" bikes w/ full 2yr factory warranty from time of purchase!

2004 BIG DOG MOTORCYCLES Mastiff for sale in Las Vegas, NV: SPORTBIKE - CycleTrader.com

that's the white one that I was going to buy..... fuckin' california :job: ... never mind that it gets 3-5 times the mileage of the cages on the road... doesn't have the special emissions so i'm fucked

hope this helps someone out there anyway :bang: :bang: :bang:
/rant... on to the continued search

What would it take to make an '04 cycle kali qualified? That freakin white gas cap ring?

dunno, but i double checked the dmv site and the rules for a cali resident to buy an out of state vehicle are specific - this bike would have to be used and have more than 7500 miles on it for me to purchase it, and have the label on the bike that it's equipped for cali emissions...

there are some other ways to bring 49 state emissions cars into cali, but none that I can get to happen... (military out of state, moving back into state etc. )

i guess maybe I'll still end up w/ a 117 right side drive 05 or 06 if i'm lucky, just was happy for a few hours that my search was over...then back to reality and had to rant. really a stupid rule, esp. considering that these bikes get great mileage and they've gotta have better emissions than all the leaf blowers and lawnmowers etc...

Best thing that ever happened to you. Get an 05 and up. There are plenty of deals to be had.

As Vegas says go with an 05 or newer for the RSD. You be glad you did.

As for the CARB emissions, no big deal just no vented gas tank or carb vacuum. Easy to remove. Both my BDM were purschased from Coast Choppers in San Dog and there is no difference in the bikes except for the "Charcoal filter" in front of the motor.

Good luck in your selection,
Ray

I had the same problem when I moved to Cali. My triumph didn't have that special emisssion sticker, so I had to have my Dad register it is Kansas where he lives to tag it. But my leaky, gas guzzling shovel was cool to register even though it created a hazmat spill everytime I parked it. The weather is great out there but not always worth the ass pain.

Come to Michigan, they don't care and with the economy in the shitter you may have the whole state to yourself.

Go ahead and buy it ship it to me and I'll put 7500 hundred miles on it then ship it back to you
dmv thought of that one too... can't buy then add mileage to qualify for the exemption

good idea though for one of us anyway

Why not put a speedo with over 7500 mileson it on the bike? I'd bet the dealer would round one up for you just to make the sale!

The Peoples Republic of California had too many down falls to out weigh the good weather. That's why I moved to Nevada, Open carry of firearms is permitted and a CCW permit is easy to obtain, No state income tax, smog laws are not opressive in the city and rural areas have no smog requirement and that's just the tip of the iceburg. I won't even mention the gambleing and prostitutuion that's allowed, ooops I just did mention it.:bang:
