Turn on your gas petcock. Then look over your shoulder for the red lights of the "intro police".

check your gas cap - it might not be venting properly. also maybe the petcock is clogged

let me get this straight, now. you come to a Big Dog motorcycle forum and disrespect us by not following protocol and want us to tell you what is wrong with your Jap bike, does that about explain it? hey, as long as we got this straight, i guess we're good.

Come on guys, you haven't even given him the chance to apologize yet. The replies so far are starting to sound as bad as what some of us hear from Harley owners when were out on our Big Dogs. This guy was just looking for a little advice and since he is a new rider, I'm sure he has no idea about forum protocol. He did however post on what I believe is one of the most knowledge filled and respectful forums out there so with that being said, let's just point him in the right direction without all the racist remarks and maybe one day he too will be riding a Big Dog. Hell, I started out on a metric too and the wife is still riding her "Jap" bike.

And for those who are not aware, we have a place in our forum for motorcycle brands outside of Big Dog found in the following link:

if you have a question about a Big Dog, come to a Big Dog forum, if you have a question about a Honda, go to a Honda forum. makes sense to me.

Looking forward to retirement
If you have a Manuel choke, verify it is not pulled up, if this is a carb bike. If its fuel injected, you will not have a choke. Or inricher. Did you just purchase fuel. You could have picked up some really bad fuel. Drain your tank and try that. If you read the fuel threads on this form you will see we encourage to use 93 octaine or better NO ethanol! I actually run 100 octane AV gas. So this will give you a starting place. But I don't know your bike or your fuel carb or injection system. Wood is correct. There are very knowledgeable Honda sites. When you get ready for a Dog come see us. Good Luck!!

Sounds like your carbs are gunked up. If you just purchased the bike, pull the carbs and clean them and this will also allow you to see if it is jetted right depending on if the bike has an aftermarket exhaust, KN filter, etc. Sometimes a little debris will break loose from the carb and plug a jet resulting in your symptoms.

This forum also has a special place for posting questions regarding other brands of motorcycles found here: http://www.bigdogbiker.com/forums/outside-brands-h-d-victory-etc/

Good thing he came here and not the HD Forum. He would have been burned at the stake and the HD Forum members chanted kumbaya
