Wheel Bearings

I was able to obtain the original mfg bearings BigDog used in the 2004's. Because they used some strange math the only ones that would produce the bearings was China. SO.... after a trip to Tulsa over the weekend this is what I found. These rear bearings have less than 2000 miles on them :angry:

Now to fix this problem for good....

Matter of fact it rained on me from Tulsa to Bartlesville. Guess I better pull the front ones too...

If your front bushing seals are worn then your front bearings are likely to look the same.

Fronts and seals went in the same time as the rear. SO.....yea.

I stopped in B'ville to dry out a bit n forgot my earplugs when I took off. Heard this awful squeel. First thought was wheel bearings. Turns out the belt was sqeeling due to it being wet. Saw a stange rusty brown residue on the pulley....could only be from the bearings.

Just looks like dirt and grime, I wouldn't say that's the Chinese Bearing fault.

Well its really the grease from the bearings that liqufied and oozed out. It mixed with the rain and made a mess.

Sounds like you simply need to clean them thoroughly and install a waterproof marine grease so this doesn't happen in the future.

Well that just sounds too easy..... I'm gonna go with a different axle and run some good sealed Timkin's. Got to visit the bearing shop and see what my options are...?

EXCATLY:up:.............shitcan those cheap chinese POS Bearings,and get a good set of Timkin"s and install them and be on your way.........

Whatever you want to do but you ride in rainy weather with Timkins, unless you open them up and put waterproof grease in them, and their going to do the same thing.
Plus if you aren't real careful and specify that you want only US made Timkin bearings and you could end up putting off shore bearings in that are carrying around the Timkin name

Im juz sayin

People like to bash the off shore bearings but I have over 50,000 miles on a couple of sets and have yet to have an issue sooooooo.....
