The Metzeler ME880 is being discontinued.
This sucks because many here have switched to the Metzelers following the Avon split issues. Apparently, the commander was out selling the me880 like 13 to 1.
The issue came up at a recent dealer meeting and they were actually told the me880 would continue. However, my source has info from an inside executive, that they are switching to the long life me888. He actually had 7,000 of the 880's on order, but cancelled them all. He isn't sure about the timing, but it is coming. The problem is sizes available for the 888. They don't make a 300 so for now you have to go with the 880.
Anyway, passing along the info in case members start seeing a shortage of the 880 300's.

Does not surprise me.

I don't suspect there is a GIANT market for 300 series tires. I've expected this over the past few years. I suspect it will be harder to find a 330 Series soon from AVON as well.

I was at strokers the other day, noticed they had a bike on the floor with a 360 rear  I checked the manufactor because I didn't know anyone who produced a tire that size. "MADE IN TAIWAN" was on the side. Couldn't figure out the company name. I persume we might have to start looking at those Chinese tires a few years down the road to keep our skoots on the road, especially those guys with 08 Ridge's

with a 330 I hope they don't quit manufacturing them. Getting hard to find already.

I just ordered a 300 ME880 Metzler last friday. This will be my second Metzler, loved the tire and the way it handled (and the tread splice didn't split) Only problem with the tire is I only got 4,500 miles out of it. Wore slap out. I've got a Metzler on the front also. Its wearing pretty good. Hope to at least get 10,000 miles out of it. If I only get 4,500 miles out of this one I'll go back to Avon anyway. The Metzler 300 didn't wear down the center but was wore on the sides almost down to cord on the edges. We ride a lot of curvey roads here in Arkansas. Very little interstate riding. But sure thought I would get more than 4500 miles out of it.

I run 40psi in the front and 42psi in the rear. I check my tire pressure every time I ride. I build tires for a living (34+ years) ......so I pretty much stay on top of them. I was getting 7500 out of the Avon Venom. Avon changed to the Cobra and I couldn't find one that the tread splice wouldn't split on me. I went through 3 Avon Cobra's in a month and a half. Avon finally gave me a full refund and I bought the Metzler ME880.
