Help, I'm not sure what the problem is.

I went out for a ride today, when I left the clutch lever was nice and tight. It started out with the right gap, about 1/8 inch. About 140 miles later the gap is more like about 1/2 inch or more. I have a a rebuilt trans by Bigdogtech01 and a pretty new bandit clutch with less than 2000 miles on it. Does any one have any ideas.:bang:

I do agree with Andrew on the ball and ramp, it happened to me the same way

This is similar to what happened to me last week. I replaced my main seal (with great help from Andrew). I adjusted the clutch after reassembly. Had a little creep and readjusted - no issue with creep. I went for a 200 mile ride. No issues. At the end of my ride had about 30-40 minutes of heavy traffic riding in the heat. As I came to the end of that ride I experienced exactly the same issue - except HALF the travel of the clutch lever was loose and I couldn't get the clutch pulled enough to stop. Had to power off at stops.

I pulled over and let it cool 30 min so I could adjust the clutch. Everything was tight. I adjusted the rod a 1/4 turn tighter and all was good. I didn't check to see if the lever was back to normal after the 30 minutes, I was just thinking I had 30 miles to home and wanted to get there with as little shifting as possible. Everything was fine on the ride home.

I adjusted the clutch from scratch and am now waiting to give it a shot. Am confused as well trying to understand what happened.

Just a couple thoughts. When things get hot metal expands (obvious). Could the balls be locking up in the ramps because they're larger and both ramps are larger (thicker) thus having less space between them? The ramps can't return fully?

Also, could the jam nut be too tight causing ramp deflection and when it heats up, the balls lock up and not allow full return of the ramps?
