Concern about using passegner pegs on the V&H 2 into 2

I know that many people including myself have put the V&H 2 into 2 on their K-9s because of how great they sound and many people have also put the passenger pegs on so you can take someone for a ride. For you guys that have this set up on their bike, have you noticed that its common or very easy for the passenger to touch their sneaker/shoe and partially melt it on the pipe because of how close the peg and pipe are to each other? I know with previous bikes I've had, the passenger pegs are located much farther away from the pipes. Maybe I'm being overly concerned here, I just don't want to tell my girlfriend or anyone for that matter that you have to freeze or tense up because you might partially melt your shoe or worse even get burned if your not paying super close attention. I don't want to that to be the focus of the ride obviously, I would want the person to be able relax and enjoy the ride without worrying. And naturally of course I don't want to get melted rubber, etc... all over the bike. I was going to place the order for my pegs, sissy bar, and a nice 2up seat tomorrow but just wanted to get some feed back first. Thanks :)

My wife has never touched them or ever said anything about them in 5 yrs and she wears sandles sometimes when we ride. She always gets on from the left side.

My wife rides with me quite a bit and I have never seen where her shoes touched the V and H 2-2 pipes in 5 years. You should be good.

Yeah you got a good point. I've been hearing mixed responses and just don't know what to do regarding this. I have not ordered anything yet. With the 2up seat, the pegs, and the sissy bar, I'll be into this for almost $1100, but if I'm going to run into problems like what Eric did, I just don't know if its worth it. It's very frustrating.

I think women who are familiar with bikes don't have a problem. If she's not, just make sure she knows to watch out.

Real Biker Girls already know or learn real fast but I would give her a heads up that Hey Baby, that pipe is hot! I just wish I would learn not to burn my calf when wearing shorts at Rallys.

IMHO, i think you are just over thinking this too much. if you are this worried about getting a smudge on the bike, how are you going to enjoy the ride yourself???? stopping every 5 minutes to clean the scoot is not really an option, just ride it and clean it later.

Haha - Just get it! If she leaves you got the setup for the next gal.

I've decided to place the order. I think I was being a little too cautious. CoachK asked about my struts for the sissy bar. These are the struts that are on my bike. I should be good to go right ?

you might want to look into getting mini floorboards for the passenger. there is a vendor on here that sells them
