Need help please bike is sick

I have a 2003 big dog chopper love it but has been sick:bang: when it starts it will kill off or flood or something thinking it needs carb adjustment but the big issue I'm having is when I try to start all I get is rapid clicking in the shifter box area I'm not a mechanic and can't afford one also when riding sometimes shifter sticks in gear please help....

To help with the clicking, fully charge or replace your battery! :up:
You do not have enough cranking amps to turn it over, and do not 'jump' it off, you will harm your EHC. This may help with your flooding as well, because you do not have enough amps to crank it and provide enough spark so it is loading up. This is just my opinion, others are far more knowledgeable here than I am and will chime in.

on your into you stated you hadnt rode in 2 years,,has your bike been not started in 2 years,,you are stating bogging down and not starting,,i would highly recommend if this is the case,,drain gas out of tank ,check tank liner, fresh gas, clean carb and clean or replace plugs and air filter, read your battery volts ,,all the normal maintenence that you will find a" how to" on this forum under how to and maintenence ,,good luck,,,patience is a virtue!

I had seen that also, and if you have not road it in two years then the battery is more than likely shot (REPLACE!!!), fuel has gelled in carburetor/lines, and tank has probably had those dried fuel gel specks 'gum up' the fuel filter in the petcock at best.

Thanks, have problems but will start with determination I ride it but not RIDE it a putt around my neighbor hood is hardly riding ill try those things and appreciate the input it will go but when it's going that's when my problems occur the most afraid of breaking down and not being able to get home...and there's no way I'd leave my bike take my eyes but not the bike

one problem at a time,, as dcam said ,click is probably battery,do a test or replace, need a good battery so bike will run to troubleshoot the rest of the problems,sticking shifter could be many things,,clutch adjustment,sticking clutch plates, shifter forks , fluids?heim joints lubed?

BTW...Have you been charging it then riding and these problems occurring after you took er' out (minus the shifting issue)?

Yes I think u guys are right about the battery I have to charge it every time I want to start it battery tender will only get me going sometimes if I can get it started before the battery dies

If you charge it, then start it, ride it, and then it wants to cut off it also sounds like a possible charging system failure also. Not greatly expensive if it is.

First thing though is to get a new battery for it and start diagnoses from there.

It takes about 20 minutes of riding to recharge the battery once started.

do you have compression releases? believe the '03's were tapped and wired for them but not installed. by putting them in, that would make the cranking easier and extend the life of the battery and starter.
