Other than Karata

When I got my Baker, I called and spoke directly to the man himself, I did not get a run around about him being to busy to talk to me.

Bowhunter, since you said it Ill agree with it. If they're to busy to talk I wont purchase.

I've been waiting for some time hoping to get a 4" Karata Belt, but it appears its not going to happen. I have the crash but it appears they don't have any drives. Yes I did call and speak to them and was told they waiting to get some plates, and all other parts are in stock. That was about two months ago and still nothing. So in trying to move forward are there and other 4" belts out there to be had? And if not is the Baker belt just as hard to get too?

Did you try Karatagirl1281...she posts on here and say's that her dad also owns the company. Maybe she can help you.

Well everyone to there own.. and there both made in america... but as far as trannys go its baker..... but open belt gonna be karata hands down... baker needs to get in the game for the people that want performance and the cool factor... just my 2c.... peace

See we differ there, I like Baker Transmission but I like BDL open primaries. I think it's like going to Baskin Robins. So many flavors, so little time!:roll:

Did you try Karatagirl1281...she posts on here and say's that her dad also owns the company. Maybe she can help you.

Talked to her father already which is where I got the information on waiting for mounting plates.

I have the 4" Karata and I am not sure why the wait on these. I will tell you that the clutch plates on the karata make a huge difference during shifting. I have had my Karata and so far have had great customer service with them and like the "Treadmill" that I installed.

I had the 4" karata on my K9, which is why I want it again, but just not getting any idea how long the wait will be.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I do not believe the BDL's are available for the DSSC.

As far as looks to each their own, As far as performance I think at least in my case the belt drive outperforms my stock primary.
1. Way better clutch and engagement (shifts way smoother)
2. No more changing out primary fluid. (maintenance free)

I have a 5" Open Primary on my bike it is stamped on the inside plate KENNY BOYCE PRO STREET now from what I've been told he just buys from manufactures and resells and stamps his name on it. I was told my primary is a rev tech if that is of any help to you and there is pictures of it on my bike in my garage on my profile.

I dont think Bryant1609 intentions was to start a debate over karatas vs Baker, yes there are alot of karatas out there and they look tough and sound better. In fact there are three of us that would love to purchase one just on the forum and no telling how many off forum orders he has had. The problem is customer relations, I dont know why but lately it has not been good. Like Bryant 1609 I also have been rsearching other options for open drives so if there are anymore out there lets see them. Bowhunter and Liferider thanks for the Baker imput and Bikekicksass thanks . So please if there areanymore options ,lets hear them and if you want to sell your karata for you lucky ones that has them , that can be arranged.

Well said, I would really prefer the Karata Open Pirmary, but at this time I have no idea how long I'll have to wait. And no telling if waiting will really net me one. Any kind of update from them would really help in this matter. I was really hoping by starting this thread that Karatagirl or her father would see this and clear the air for those of us who would love to get one. Or if they're not going to be making them anymore to at least let us know that so we call can move on to something else. I want to wait but I want to know that I'm waiting to get something, not nothing.
