I've been waiting for some time hoping to get a 4" Karata Belt, but it appears its not going to happen. I have the crash but it appears they don't have any drives. Yes I did call and speak to them and was told they waiting to get some plates, and all other parts are in stock. That was about two months ago and still nothing. So in trying to move forward are there and other 4" belts out there to be had? And if not is the Baker belt just as hard to get too?

yea but sometimes the wait is worth it... nothing against baker just want more options then a 2'" belt... I know its overkill but hell at those prices might as well get what you want... you settle and you'll be sorry.. and then giving someone else a hell of a deal on a 2" baker... or worse your bud will show up with the karata 4" and the sound.. whitch equals COOL... ISNT THAT WHY WE DO IT... well theres other reason also but PLUS ITS FUN....not to mention addictive.... anyway just my thoughts doin lots of soul searchin lately... good luck....

I too have been waiting and on the "Waiting list". When I call all they tell me when it's ready to ship, they will call me. So I wait :willy_nilly::willy_nilly::willy_nilly:

I have a BDL open drive and LOVE it!!! I was looking at Karata and Primo but my mechanic told me I would regret it. Parts availability is a bitch with both those companies. He has had great luck dealing with BDL on every order. So that's what I got and LoVE it!!!!!!

I also have been on the waiting list for a karata and have just about decided to tell them to forget it. No replys ever to the time line and if you want to spend 4000.00 you shoudnt have to work hard to spend it.( just build the dang plates). Primo has sent replys to my questions as well as Baker. Right now I believe with Bakers customer relations thats the way I will go.

That sucks on the wait. I would keep waiting. I'm sure the Baker is of equal or better quality but 2.5 on the belt? If you're buying for looks (I did) 4 "or 5" for sure.

When I got my Baker, I called and spoke directly to the man himself, I did not get a run around about him being to busy to talk to me. I know it is not 4", but I feel that there is less stress on the bearing on the transmission with the narrower belt. I posted a thread on the install this winter, I have put about 800 miles on it so far, bad weather has put a cramp in my riding. Here is a pic I took recently.

I have the 4" Karata and I am not sure why the wait on these. I will tell you that the clutch plates on the karata make a huge difference during shifting. I have had my Karata and so far have had great customer service with them and like the "Treadmill" that I installed.

I guess it's riders preference. I have the BDL 2.5" my heal is about 1" to the right of the belt and my pants leg has popped a couple of times in the pully. I usually ride with 1/2 chaps and when I do this solves the pants leg problem. If I had a 4" drive my boot heal would be all in the drive. With the BDL I enjoy the centrifugal balls that press against the clutch plates. The higher the rpm the more pressure is assorted onto the plates to grab once the clutch is released allowing for less clutch slip. I am sold on the BDL and if I had it to do again. I would still get the BDL 2.5".
