Tricks for riding a wide tire bike?

For those of us that are new to the wide tire bikes ( 07 Bulldog 300 mm tire) and of you have a few tricks? I know cornering is different and needs to ne slow, but any other tips?

That's a bit of an urban legend. Bike handling is still the same way.
Some of the original wide tire bike were just not easy to handle but that's not true of the Big Dogs. I toss my K-9 around just like my other bikes (can't lean over as far because of low ground clearance which is more of the issue)

Don't be afraid. You have to lean the bike over. Don't fight it.

I was nervous about how the wide tire would handle when I bought mine too, but they handle great, its just a wide tire surface not a sidewall so don't be afraid to lean it over on the corners. IMO, it seemed to take a little more at first to get it to lean over than othrr bikes, but it feels more stable to me.

Now I have a question I read on here one member said counter steering a chopper will get you in big trouble fast and then they whent on to say he uses forced steering so what is right and wrong

Maybe it's a personal preference, but I find counter steering works great. It takes some getting use to, but it will soon become second nature.

You countersteer all motorcycles with 2 wheels, it's simple physics.

A shot of jack before you roll out will make the bike handle much better.

Yep, I countersteer but like mentioned above, it becomes second nature and you don't think about it.

IMO, Counter-steering at parking lot speeds is not done, just higher speeds.

Leaning over with V&H Big Rads on the left is more restricting than the 300mm rear tire.

You will notice it's harder to turn at times when you pull a RH out of the driveway and find yourself in the oncoming traffic lane. It will take some seat time but eventually it will feel like riding a minibike.

Living in Germany with all these twisty roads here I lean over the bike until I scratch the exhaust. I can go a little faster using the hanging-off method (move your ass into the corner and leave the bike a little more upright - like MotoGP ). Then you get more road clearance.....
My friends say that I got the wrong bike for my riding style . I just love it :2thumbs: .
