Norfolk area need room to rent

I thought I'd ask my outstanding members here if anyone knows of anyone in the Norfolk area that has a room for rent? I have a buddy who's son has been sleeping in his car for the past 2 months, he's an E6 in the Navy and is decommissioning the USS Enterprise (or something like that).

If you can help a brother out send me a message please. :2thumbs:

No reason for active duty ships company to be sleeping in a car. I was attached to the Eisenhower and you always had a rack on the ship, BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing), or you could request a room in the barracks nearby.

He should go talk to his command. Even if the old lady kicked him out of the house, the command will get him a place to lay his head.

I am currently in the military, and the above statement is 100% correct. He is an E6, therefor he is entitled to BAH and shoulfd be getting it evey month. He should be getting roughly $1350.00 with out dependants. That is ofcourse based on his time in service.

Thanks everyone for the input. I guess this young man has a wife and kids in their home which is located in another state or something so his housing allowance goes toward the house payment. It's kind of a screwed up situation I guess.

Did he talk to his shipmates? There must be another reason he is sleeping in his car! There are many barges/tenders available if you can't sleep on the ship or even others that have rented apartments together in town. We also had barracks right outside the Newport News shipyard. If I didn't go home to my wife and child, I slept on the ship or tender while at Newport News. He should be making arrangements with his chief or division officer. I have a real hard time believing they would allow him to sleep in his car if they knew!

Smothing not right here military personnel always have a place to stay no matter what no matter what happens they will help
