NGK Spark plugs?

Would it make any sense to try out the NGK spark plugs? Just looking at buying a bunch and saw these suggested for other bikes. It appears the part number for our bikes would be the DCPR7E.

NGK is a very good plug. Good spark and they are a little harder to FOUL

I've used NGK, Harley and Champion. The best I've found for not fouling are Bosch Platinum #4237.

I would think it would be pretty hard to tell whats better that the other. If they all work, how does one tell the difference? Is it all marketing? I have run the ones the bike came with. Never changed. Champion if I recall(not at home)

you probably won't notice any difference - claims that this plug or that plug will make your bike go faster are purely marketing BS in my view - you have to make sure you get the heat range and length inside the CC right though

I use NGK. Just went from the standard NGK to the Iridium plugs, still trying the new ones out. I really liked the standard NGK, no problems. Did not like the Champions.

I have a friend of mine who builds drag boat motors...swears he lost a championship title because of Champoin plugs breaking down...switched to NGK and has never had a problem...its all he will run now.

I'm running the NGK DCPR7E right know.I've ran Bosch in my shovelhead for
years and will run them in my dog when I find out which one to run.

The recommended Champions or HD equivillent have work good for me. NGK are very good as well as Bosch, but since I change them out every oil change, not worth any gain that may be gotten. I figure for approx $3.00 ever 2500 miles, no need to worry about a plug failure or fouling issues that have accumulated.

What ever you use, do not forget to torque to spec and use Anti-seeze.

If you use the silver anti-seize, just use a little bit, it can create resistance between the sparkplug and the head and cause a weak spark. It will have you chasing your tail thinking you have a problem with your ignition system...been there, done that!

There is a copper anti-seize that is very conductive and recommended for spark plugs. :up:

Good point and I use both to be honest. Pretty much which can I grag at the time. Still just set the gap at .040", light coat evenly on the threads, and torque down to 18' lbs. On my way till the next oil change.
