Need help with stock air cleaner hardware.

Taking the spike air cleaner off the K9 and putting the stock air cleaner back on. Stock one didn't come with any hardware, just cover backing plate and filter. I bought bolts for the cover and backing plate but having trouble with the bolts that screw into the head. Why are the bolts that go into the head with the spike air cleaner hollow with a hole in the side. Does the stock air cleaner need the same bolts? I don't want to use the spike air cleaner bolts because I am going to sell it eventually.

Those head bolts are breather bolts used on BD 04 and older. No need for them with you bike

Thanks Raywood that is what I thought they looked like. Good to know I don't need them. All I need now is a gasket for the carb to backing plate.

Jim, when I bought my K9 it too had the spike air cleaner. Didn't like it and sold it. The reason that the original spike cleaner bolts have holes in them is because there are two very small inserts that go inside the holes making it look solid (make sense). And I still have them. I could show you photos if that helps. The original cover that I replaced doesn't use those same bolts. The cover I bought had all of the hardware with it and that's how I know. Hope this helps.

I am just going to buy the right size bolts that fit the head and use aluminum spacers I have on hand for the backing plate spacing.
