Anyone using 2 oil coolers

I was thinking of installing 2 oil coolers , I really have no use for a stash tube as I always have a small back pack , pistol spark plugs etc , and as always thanks inadvance

Problem with 2 oil coolers is the oil will not heat up enough to burn off the condensation water that develops inside the engine. You really want that oil on a good riding day to be a minimum of 160* to 200*. My ultra Classic has a Jagg deluxe oil cooler with a manuel bypass valve. In the winter I open the bypass valve so the oil bypasses the oil cooler and heats up. In the winter with the bypass valve open,my oil does not get hotter than 125*. So consequently no humidity water burns off. I close the diverter and bam my oil temp gauge will start climbing to about 190* in 15 or so minutes. In the summer I heat up my oil to about 190* for about 30-45 minutes and reach down with my left hand and close the bypass. Very easy!

I have a 2 oil cooler set up with both tubes functioning since bike was new 27,600 miles ago. Riding here in south Texas(hot as hell in summer) it helps engine stay cooler. My sled runs 10-20 degrees cooler than my bud with a K9 without coolers. I can't believe the fittings haven't started leaking yet but so far so good.

I am also installing two coolers, it is VERY hot in Summer down in Spain. For winter I am going to have those covers made.. the idea is from another member here. There are several posts on this subject.

Very cool thank you for the pics ,responses ,, it does get very hot in central Florida ,, I am gonna get 2 ,,Blackie How did u hook them together ? Would u possibly have a pic ,, Franco I like those covers That's a great idea, it gets cool where I live but not cold , I'll get an oil temp gauge too

Do you have an oil temp gauge? Just curious as to what operating temps you're seeing on a hot day. I'm in Florida as well and considering the coolers.

I live in Louisiana about 25 miles from New Orleans and based on my oil temperature gauge, I don't need an oil cooler. Temperatures have never risen past 210 degrees fahrenheit in the peak summer including June riding in Texas. In the winter, I don't see temperatures above 150 degrees fahrenheit. Anything up to 270 degrees fahrenheit is acceptable.

There are numerous threads on here about oil coolers "do they help or not"? I have researched other outside articles and some mechanics say they do no extra cooling at all. I beleive they do help in very hot driving conditions . IMO any little extra cooling that I can get is a plus. They were 700.00 new installed when I bought bike. Is it worth it? I guess that's up to the indiviual. But you have to move the air over them just like a motor. At dead stops they serve no purpose. I think they look kinda cool on a chopper also. Good luck

Sorry but I have a correction to make after consulting my S&S Service Manual.

S&S recommends between 180 and 250 degrees Fahrenheit and you can use an oil cooler to maintain these temperatures. In the winter, there is no way you should have a problem with high temperature. In the summer, you will have to measure your oil temperature to determine if you need an oil cooler.

No, I don't have that. The bike came with the coolers and I juts added the spiked top to them. Now that you asked I have to get an oil temp gauge.....:rant:

Do me a favor, please... can someone measure the length of the Oil Lines that come with the BDM Oil Coolers and let me know?

I had mine powder coated black then diamond cut to match the heads on my bike will try to take pics. when I get home and post later.
