It looks like an allen bolt head but it is only a plug.. I removed mine after installing the spike filter and it worked for me.
Thanks, lets see if this works. http://www.bigdogbiker.com/forums/help-wanted/42791-spike-air-cleaner-help.html
hope this helps
The only one who needs to know what kind of carb that bike has is writing this post.... However, until I have it all rigged up I took off the black powder coat and cleaned my ice cream cone up a little bit. It will do until I get the right parts....your going to cover up a chrome XXX carb? I think you will find the surging will go away if the carb is set up properly. As for rain, just run it with a rain sock from D&M Custom Cycle, Wimmer Machine, etc.

That's right Mister ! I wouldn't call it shit but..... BTW, neither of my cars have any stickers on the back saying bla bla bla either. The only one who needs to know what's under my hood is ME ! And the only one who needs to know what special parts I have in my Big Dog is, you guessed it, ME ! For the rest it is sufficient that its purdy.....yeah, I see you what you mean, no one needs to see shit like that but you. NOT..

Kim,Thanks,
Great link, and great link from Franco to show me that plug. Yes it is out already. Leaves me to believe what a lot of members has experienced, the ice cream cone filter works best upright. Oh well, I am expecting a few parts from a very friendly member so that I can mount the original Airfilter after doing a few mods for the TAZ add ons.... In the mean time I am polishing the cone so that it least match the rest of the bike.

Thanks again Franco,Kim,
Yes, it definitely, for some reason, the cone works better being on the vertical position. I cannot explain why but it does makes a difference.
If you need a rain sock for this set up, here are a couple links:

Cool man!!! If sometime you (or your sister) have time to spare over in Spain let me know. If I am in Country we can catch up. I live on the Coast about 1 hour drive North of Barcelona City. Thanks again Franco,
You've been of great help with links and resources. My bike has an enormous amount of power but I do not know what has been done to it all the way. What I do know is that my Ducati 1098S doesn't have more... I am dying to get into that motor and find out exactly what it is I have here but why fix it if it ain't broke? For now I will just enjoy it and as soon as I have all the parts modified I will mount the stock Airfilter, however, you will be able to notice that it's not all stock.
And BTW, the old 1098S is actually on its way to Spain as I type. My little sister is racing it in Cartagena...
