So I have a few questions that I couldnt find during which the search feature showed me many tire threads.....Now you have to remember here I have a CHOPPER so this is 250 tires I am speaking of...
1. With all the gun ho support of AMERICAN MADE:flag: products,I was wondering why more people werent supporting DUNLOP with only 3 choices of tires out there...AVON,METZLER & DUNLOP???????
2. How many miles do you get out of your METZLERS?
3. How many miles are you getting out of your DUNLOPS?
4. I think DUNLOPS are radials,if I have some tread left on my AVON
front tire can I run the DUNLOP in the rear and the AVON in the front????
5. For those running the DUNLOPS your opinion please?????

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR OPINIONS....:flag::flag::flag:

On #4 you can run the Avon front and Dunlop rear. Its not going to matter that the front tire is a Bias tire and the rear is a radial. Thats the way the bigdogs came from the factory. The Avon Venom and Cobra rear tires are both radials and the Venom and Cobra front tires are Bias tires.

Also on the other numbers

#1 Avon's are built in England but Avon is owned by an American company...Cooper Tire

#2 I have a 300 rear Metzler...People seem to get more miles out of 250's than the 300's. So far my Metzler has about 5000 miles and still looks good. So we'll see

#3 Never owned one. But have heard good things about them

#4 See above post :D

Are Dunlop made in the US? I know that the European and US market for Dunlop are owned by Goodyear out of Akron, OH, but thought the tires were still being made overseas with allot coming out the UK where Dunlop original started.

I was under the impression, only because of something I read on one of these posts along the way, that they were made here...I could be completely wrong and passing on bad information, gosh I hope not.....

Plus if you go to J&P CYCLES website and look at DUNLOP TIRES it says tires made in AMERICA,and thats where I musta digested this info.....for a minute there I thought you would have had me in similar ranks with those from TMZ.....:lol::lol:

I just bought a new set of Metzelers and the rear was made in Germany and the front in Brazil. I do my best to keep my $$$ in the US, but bean counters makes that impossible.

Jimi,

Not sure myself. It has been years since I have used one, just remember getting some for my old Toyota when they were being bought by Goddyear and at that time they were still coming from Europe.

Hell there is no telling anymore where anything comes from, if they are being made in America even better. I do know the ones I used to get for trucks were good tires for sure. If we can get another option for the 250, even better.

Maybe Dunlop will be that option. If you or anyone else can confirm where they are made now, would be great, but I realy do not know. Just know they were original from Europe, maybe started in England or Ireland or something.

Im running the venom on front and the dunlop elite 3 on the rear. Have had it on a year with no issues. Metzler doesn't make a true 250. You'll either get the 240 or 260. I don't know the specs on your swing arm but I doubt you'll be able to squeeze the 260 in there. The elite 3 is a little wider than the Avon and barely fit on my bike.

I ordered the DUNLOP... I myself remember running the 180 on my Night Train back in the day and had no issues at that time.....

Very true, also when they put Made in America on a label, it does not mean always the USA. It could be anywhere from the Tundra of the Canadian Arctic to the tip of South America.
