Hi guys long time no see! Hope everyone had a good holiday!

Anyhow, I got my wireplus today.. So I figured id get a start on it.. So far it seems fairly simple.. However I have a few issues im not to sure about..

First I would think a male plug going to a female plug The wires on both sides would be the same for instance Plug 1 Of female (blue) Plug 1 of male (blue) mine seem to not be that way...

Next issue would be I got all my grounds sorted out and such.. They are all connected Now when i plugged everything in I had no power anywhere

I have the red wire from the main module going to the CB silver side just as it says.. Then I have the ignition wire going to the silver side aswell.. Then voltage regulator on the Gold side.. Seemed weird to me.

Everything seems to be in place and how it should be just not sure why im not getting power anywhere.

Followed in insructions and everything actually was going smooth should have known lol..Any help would be greatly appriciated!

I have not installed mine yet but as you noted, the wires look completely reversed on that plug - may want to triple check that section of the install instructions. Good luck and keep us posted.

I triple checked the instructions about 3 times, Im thinking they may have had it backwards from the behinning.. I could be wrong though lol

Just by looking at the picture I think you have the plug on backward. The Orange seal should be face in female plug to seal it. Looks like the wire should come in from the other end or you have the seal on the wrong end. The wires have to match on the plug.

Yep Yep...Notice how your other ones don't have that orange lip showing on the outer side? It's supposed to go on the inside it's part of the waterproofing part.

Did the pins lock when you put them in backwards? You can get them out either way. I'm just a bit surprised they locked backwards.

lol, Yes they did lock which is funny I can get them out no problem.. Now on to the module parts... Does any wire hook up to the battery or do both go to voltage regualar.

Cause like I said in my earlier post Red wire coming from module goes to CB and my red ignition wire goes to CB, So where does the module get there power??

Oh any sheese there sure is alot of crap under the seat now lol, I dont know why im going to do with it all prolly just invest in a side car for storage lol

wire ties and electrical tape and it will clean it right up. There's a thread on here with a bunch of pictures to show how it's done. search "bdmridgeback" I think he had the thread.

I didn't have a CB on my 04... I connected straight to battery with a 30 AMP fuse.

You should have 1 heavy gauge Red wire run that direct to the battery with a fuse. It's in the same bundle with the heavy gauge green wire that goes to your starter.

No Fuse - Will need to buy that seperate. Just any in-line fuse, hell I think I picked mine up at Walmart.

Ok I got it all working, double checked everything and l systems a go, when I turn the key the first click my highbeam comes on nothing else really, prolly have a wire wrong or something I'm not to concerned about that when on the 3rd click everything functions as it should though. Got most of the wiring semi organized now.

On the red wire that runs from the ignition switch should I put a fuse in that line and hook it to the battery? Then the wire coming from the module put on the silver side of the cb and gold side voltage regulator?

Wel I mached everything up to start the engine and when i did it ran great then all the sudden the box that has the 2 plugs started to smoke a lil so i killed it instantly..Very strange to me though casue everhthing functions as it should.. Any idea what could have casued this?

I wish I had more money.
Smoke bad. Ray just had the same thing happen. Sent it to wires plus to have it gone over and it was cooked. He had to buy that part again. I think. I'm sure they'll try to pin it on you. When you had all the wires backwards did you power it up?

Nope, I did not power anything up untill I knew everything was where it should, Strange thing is, I had the bike powered up (not running) for I'd say 15-20 mins just tinkering around with stuff and nothing, but then when i started the engine and let it run for a couple mins It went south from there.

I'm going out of state for a while for work, So What I'm going to do is just order a new module and send it off to a shop, Have them monkey with it and solder all the connections and so on so forth. My patience is at an end with the bike.

So hopfully when I get back in town it will be good to go and worry free!

i am not getting a warm feeling the WP is the best way to go -- is there any hope for the M-Unit these days ? -- the efforts on that seemed to die off quickly....

Yeah, I called them today and since I just got it a few days ago, They are going to give me a new one free of charge, I just had to send them the old one.. Yeah Im not sure I just am getting the new parts. Its going off to the shop and I will have them deal with it and if these units keep burning up.. Looks like alot of money wasted and a re-wire is in session.
