Removing Stock Gas cap

I have been thinking about installing the smooth gas cap that pops up. I like the clean look but have heard on here that they are prone to leaking. I have one on my 2012 Streetglide and it looks good and hasn't leaked so far.

I am thinking the same thing. Which one do you have? Have a link?

I have not heard they leak. That is the problem I have now.

The problem is finding one big enought diameter to cover the outline of the paint saver.

Yes you can if you do really need it and you are not in a hurry... it is going to travel with me to Spain and then back to Afghanistan... it will be free again in February.

That's great. My paint saver leaks so I need to something. I can wait unless I go on a trip in Feb.

The tool belongs to Harry (HMAN)...

Franco....shoot me a PM with a mailing addy and I'll hook ya up with a removal tool I made. Little heat on the paint saver and a twist with this and they pop right out. It may take a bit to reach ya but if your not if a hurry.....?

... I´d ask him first, just out of respect, if he does´nt mind? He might need it back?

Franco, whats the OD of the paint saver? I want to know if it will cover the paint wrinkles I now have.

Also, you have to carry around the key to open it?

I am not at home sorry... maybe someone else will tell you or I will be able to tell you next week.

Yes, you do need the key to open it without damaging it... I carry one on the key-ring (it weights nothing) and a spare one under the seat.... those keys are easy enough to hide/carry anywhere.

6 years already and still looks/works as new!!!
