Finnally got her !!! 2003 Pittbull

Well I finnally got the Dog out of the shed :) I asked around here about this 2003 finnally pulled the plug today, 8500.00. She looks good and the work begins on Thursday

Its been sitting since 2009 without any love in a pretty damp shed so I'm sure there is going to be some issues but that is what the winter is for right?

My plan is
1. All new fluids everywhere
2. Breaks front and rear feeling its gonna need the rear caliber at minimun rebuilt probly do the Mastercylinder also pedal is real stiff.
3. Speedometer lens is cracked and filled with moisture odometer dosent work
4. New braided fuel lines and wires
5. new seat
6. Clean & shine clean & shine clean more more more and clean and shine again and again :)

So any pointers on locating a speedo would like to keep it in the dash if possible, rear rotor and break pads, seen all the rebuild kits for calipers and mastercylinder on Ebay already.

Can you tell I am excited yet ?

My best and worst personal trait, I never quit took 6 attempts but have conquerd the image !!! I have figured out how to link the pic LOL

Cool man!! Some people have been on this board for 3+ years and still haven't figured out how to post pics yet:loony:

Either way bike doesn't look too bad for sitting for 3 years. Looks like your on the right track. Did it fire right up? I would throw some new plugs in as well. Might want to drain the gas if there is any left in it and put some fresh stock in. :up:

Yup nice Skoot had a pitbull 03 loved it. Change that fuel out

Congrats on the scoot!

Most everything on the bike will cross over to HD parts so that should make things easier.

The wheels and rotor are probably PM. I would check with BigDogPartsKing who is a sponsor on the forum to see if he has any stock. If not, I can check with PM to see if they still have a CAD on it. If they do, even if it is discountinued, they will make one for you. I had a pulley made not to long ago. I should have stock on the caliper rebuild kit and I know I have stock on the brake pads.

Yea she fired right up when I looked at her the first time with a little choke , as well as last week when we pulled her out of the shed it was parked in, I'm not sure if he had her running before i got there but the heads and pipes were cold, also he had kept her on the battery tender. Yes plugs are on the list. also I don't think he rejetted the carb after he put the pipes on. I really don't think she has ever had any maintance done so I know I have allot to do just from the way she was stored but, hey I think she'll be a good foundation. and really is just the type I wanted I needed a winter project.

Not sure how much gas is in each tank though, how are you supposed to tell ?:eek:

Hey thanks I'll PM you for ordering info on the breaks, I'm picking her up on Thursday work gets in the way of all things fun in life, I wanna get her her before I start ordering the wrong parts, I checked with BDM performance on the Rotor and he had none but gave me the part numbers were pretty helpful but I can tell most of what I will need will come from here and Ebay already. Just going to take some time.

Holy sheep #&*! batman, that is an awsome find.:2thumbs: Why did the guy quit riding it? That would have been perfict for my wife, the only reason she hasn't taken my chopper away from me is the long front end intimidates her. I think she's chomping at the bit to get some S&S between her legs.:D

Thanks Mr. Wright, the picture is pretty forgiving though , she's going to need allot of work to get her shined up. theres some minor chrome peeling on the inner primary cover,needs brakes and the way it has been stored has really hurt it all around but for the most part some elbow grease and love should bring her back. i'm not sure why he quit but he was hesitant to sell her, I think it was getting to him just sitting. IMO I really paid a little too much since there is allot of little things to go through. From what it sounded like he bought it as a Daytona Bike week vacation trailored it down cruised and trailered back home to the shed for a few years and lost interest.

think long and hard about putting new rubber on her before you do too much. if nothing else, will probably have major flat spots on the tires if not dry rot.

Makes you wonder about some people. You should have seen mine when I got it, came in a bucket, I had to take it down to bare metal and start from the ground up. I spent about 40 hours on the buffing wheel to get the aluminum to shine again.

Yea this is my Christmas present :) Tires will be this spring, I just wanna get the basics done first and see what I have after the initial clean up and go from there. Stopped by my local Northern Tool today on the way home from work and picked up some goodies to start with and even cleaned my garage and tool box out tonight to make a spot for here all nice and clean to start cleaning. LOL
