Rear tire breaking bead?

RIP Brother
Hello all:
Sorry didn't see anywhere else to put this thread. Has anyone had a problem with rear wheel slpping inside tire and breaking the seal (bead) so it leaks? This is a first for me and it comes awhile after changing rear tire with same size(Avon) and brand.I have taken the tire off wheel and cleaned wheel throughly and even purchased a recommended bead sealer to no avail. Please chime in.

winner, winner, chicken dinner. have not heard of this problem before!!! all i can think of is the air pressure is too low to maintain the seal around the bead. are you keeping it at 40psi? did you replace the valve stem when you changed the tire/ could it be leaking at the stem?

If you have replaced the tire with same size and brand, then one of two things is happening, either defective tire,or air psi bleeding off and causing rotational slippage on rim...Thats it... TRY re-mounting tire but in a different postion.....ya know....spin it 180 degree"s from where it is now, remount it and try it.......Also NEVER MIX AND MATCH tire brands, try to keep same brand tires on the front and rear, different brands will create driveability issue"s,wobble, balance problems...

Selaer is good as mentioned. I have friend that had a front tire that would loose 10lbs in a week. He had to keep on addin air until he finally replaced the tire.

Might put 40lbs of air in it and sprary around it with a mix of water and dish soap and see if you can find a leak if that is whats wrong.

If the rim is powercoated, it's more like a lube. You have no rough surface for the tire to bed into. I'd stay on top of the air.

A second try and this might make a mess getting off, let alone break the bead off again, but something soft like yamabond around the bead, or let some gaskeycinch dry at the wall of the rim. When the tire presses against the L part of the bead, the cinch is all up that wall sealing things.

Question? Why is there an alignment mark on the tires and valve stem on all of my tires. I just checked the Harleys and my dog with the new metzlers and all tires have this mark. Not jacking this one hopefully.

the mark is the light point of the tire so it should line up with the stem which would theoretically be the heaviest point of the wheel causing it to come closer to balancing out without additional weights.

Maybe Avon changed the tire compound trying to fix their spliting problem and now have created a bead problem.

I wish I had more money.
I had this issue one time. I took the wheel off and broke the bead. Then I took a caulk gun with a tube of silicone and ran a bead of silicone all the way around both sides of the wheel. Then hit it with the air until the bead set. Once it popped I let the wheel and tire both set 24 hrs till the silicone dried. No more leak.

Holy $hit, that was a serious approach

It was. It didn't take as long as it sounds. I was concerned about how it would affect the balance as well. It was easy to balance. When it popped into position the layer of silicone is wafer thin. And when you put air in it put a towel over it cause when the bead pops its likely to get messy.

would not look forward to removing that tire and having to clean up the wheel for the next tire. :bang::bang::bang:
