Get on your bike, head out on the hwy, and twist that fucking thing in your right hand and get your speeds up around a 100mph. I normally get about 118 out of a tank of fuel, doing the 'wrist twist' technique, I have gone 147 miles and not hit reserve!

Proably Gas but with a trip to Myrtle Beach coming up soon and a 580 mile ride a few more MPG would be nice to cut down the amount of stops for gas. It's not the money for the fuel as it is the pain in the ass to keep stoping every 90 to 100 miles. 120 or 130 would make it a bit easier. Either way it ain't gonna stop me from saddeling up and moving out, that's for sure!

:hi: normally get around 44 mpg but the trip down to daytona and back averaged around 50 mpg running 75+. faster the better. :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Those things have been around for a long time. They have been featured in bike mags over the years and seems they don't do much for the bike according to the articles written on them.

I agree with Gas.
Running at speed and on the long runs with our legs and body in pretty much one position for an hour and a half (125 miles), it is good to stop, stretch and so on. Keeps fatigue from kicking in and that is the #1 cause of accidents on the road these days.

Seems like a hassle stopping so much, but it is really good for the body. Get some fluids in ya, chat with the public, get back on the road and feel great.

We all want better mileage, but 45-55 mpg is pretty damned good with these big motors.

These gimicks have been in the back of popular mechanics and hot rod mag since, well forever.

Tune the bike correctly and keep it well maintained is your best bet.

BDM put out an SB on this in 2004 or 2005. I'll try to find it. Said, shops should make sure these are not in the tank as they had problems with the chemicals degrading seals and such.

blue you sure do like them gadget things dont you,i bet you have a shit load of junk stored in your garage that dont work ,and probally at least 10 get rich quick sceaming dvd packets in your house...my motto if it seems to good to be real it aint!!!!!! but just to let you know...i do have this land for sale..........

I'm with all of you on the gadget thing. But my inquisitive mind just won't let me stopping researching the world for improvements. I rarely if ever buy any unless the educated opinions that I get support the purchase. I read a lot so I come across a lot of "snake oil" type things during those "educational" sessions. :) Jimbo, I already own some "monutain property in Key West so I'll pass bro :)
I agree with all of you on the stopping thing, it is good to do that. Since I got my bike dyno tuned I seem to be getting around 32 mpg at best. I'm getting about 90 miles at best before my reserve kicks in. Maybe I should take it back and have it redone or ask why it's so low an MPG?

That is definately WAY too low if you are letting the dog stretch its legs at all.

I know that "playing with the throttle" when riding with buds doing city driving, sometimes I might get that low, but even then I think I am around 35+.

Sounds like a definate tuning issue, unless your going uphill both ways :)

I would definately get it checked out...

It's mostly highway driving with a small amount of city. I set an appointment to get it back to where it was done and have it rechecked. Thanks Cut, I'm inclined to agree. It was just done about 3 weeks ago so back it goes befroe my long trip to mB. I'll post what happens after.

The mileage you are posting does sound pretty low if we are talking open road miles. I am getting close at time in the 40's on the open road with consistant speeds. Does drop some with the city riding or the constant change up in the back roads on twistie, but even then upper 30's.

I do make it habbit to stop at around the 100 point to be on the safe side, but just as important to get off the bike, get some blood to the legs, fluids in the systems, a little BS with other riders or the locals and unfortunately some nicotine in the lungs.

Can not say that going very fast gets me better gas mileage but do notice that if I keep the RPM up close to the 3000 rpm range, I do seem to get better range than 2500-3000 range. Normally just cruise where I have the 3000 LED lit. Maybe working on a more efficient circuit or something.

I used those forever ago...my dad has a dealer price plan if anyone wants them. I do know that we put them in all our farm equipment and since then the gas hasn't spoiled over the winter, that's worth something. He did notice MPG gain in the powerstroke, I didn't notice shit in my old toyota, but it did have 37" tires! They are these weird little pod looking things with metal magnet discs in them...you just drop them in.
