Raywood, I'm not finding the slam buttons on your site. Is it something you now carry?
I still have not installed the starter you rebuilt for me and thinking I'd like to put a slam on it. Anyway, too much to do now, but one weekend this winter when the streets are iced up I'll get that thing in and my leaking ebay starter out!

No sorry Knuckles no Slam buttons yet. Like you we can't find a reasonable price for them. I am working on an in house design though.

I got one off Amazon for about $12 but it wouldn't fit my starter. Gave it to Broadband. Not sure if it worked or not? Broadband....Any input?

Yeah theres two different styles
One has the lower two screws spaced further apart than the other.
The one with the close screws are low cost but the one with the wider screws are expensive. The lowest I have found was 54 bucks each and I had to buy at least 10 at a time.

Im working on a design in house that only requires a slight modification to the stock cover that way I can just make them here and install them for my customers when they want them and at a reasonable cost.

Wow sounds great. Let us know when you get it worked out. I'd send my cover in for the mod. I don't get why the buttons to fit our starters are so much more expensive. Of course thats not the first thing to stump me!

Ok too much caffeine this morning. I'm done now.

Yeah I thought I had a slick way of making them without buying a $35000 CNC lathe but it hasn't worked out to well.

I hear ya, I tried to make one on my 1939 Great Bend Lathe. It flew off hit the cutting bar, my face then I don't know where it went after that!

I can make them one at a time manually but good god it takes a long time. My second effort was a form tool, expensive in its own right, but I didn't give enough thought to the rigidity and squareness of my lathe so I trashed the first $400 set of cutters.
I have some much valued experience now and am making changes to my lathe before I attempt it again.
