Sissy Bar Specs

Ok after looking around for one for my 2006 Ridgeback I refuse to pay around $600 bucks for a damn sissy bar and the reciever struts!!:angry: I know I need the 300mm one but I am asking now if anyone out there has some close up pics of the end of the sissy bar and the recieving in of the struts I would be thankful to see them. I take it there are no threads and the sissy bar just merely slides into the holes of on the struts.

Along with the pics if anyone could give me the diameter or the recieving hole I would appreciate it! I am going to bend my own and have my business partner CNC me a nice design for the top piece to match my paint job!

Any help will be appreciated!!

The bar is .682 dia. and the hole in the bracket is .792 dia. Hope tha helps, lets see some pictures when your done.

the biggest difference between the struts with and without the receivers is that the struts with the receivers is about 1/2" thicker to allow for the holes to be strong enough to hold the bar and the person/luggage leaning against it. whole different animal.

I have a line on a set of struts just need to get them chromed like the ones I have now. So thank you yes I will have the bigger stronger struts and send everything of to the chromers when I am dont with fab!:2thumbs:

I just noticed too yours will be different then mine. The later models are straight and just slide in from the top unlike yours that slides in the back. But thank you none the less for the pics and the measurments!

Thats just one I had lying around the shop that goes to a buddies chopper. Mine is still in design stage too. I was just showing you how it locks in place.

You may want to confirm the width of the bar at the bottom. You are showing 300mm but I think that is for the tire size and not the sissy bar spread. I have a 250 tire Mastiff 05 and my sissy bar (center to center) on the bottom spread is approx 12 inch or about 304mm, I would imagine the ones for the 300mm tires are wider.

Yep mine was 355mm on my K9.

The base of the bar i machined 2 x 25mm long x 17mm dia with a 3/8'' tapped hole up the guts. One end was chamfered to allow for weld prep and i made the rack out of 16mm Rod. I then used 6mm rod to make a frame to support my back pack BUT i made it too close to the top of my rear guard, so anything soft pok's through and rubs on the guard.
Make sure you have at least 1 1/2" clearence. I TIG welded it all together and painted it.

Now i know where i went wrong i will pick it apart and raise the pack resting area.
I will send some pics soon of all the stuff i have done over the past months.

Even if you got a shop to make one up, should'nt cost more than $150, but if you have access to a lathe and a heating torch and a welder 4 hours should do it.

Was thinking it was solid didn't know it had threads on the inside. I will look for tubing now instead now that I see the stock set up!

stock struts??

not sure, but i dont think the stock struts are strong enough to support a sissy bar that is going to support a lot of weight. i was looking into this a while back and it looked as if you would need beefier struts. the mounting holes on my 08 pit are on top and oblong..... maybe 1/8"x 1/2". may want to look into that some more before you have the bar mocked up. looks like a nice set-up and that would suck to go through all that work.
