Pulling inner/outer primary

I am pulling the inner and outer primary off the dog to replace the all the seals. I am tired of leaking fluid. (it is not coming from the starter either) Since I am taking all that off I am also going to put my bandit clutch in while I am at it.

My question would be is since all that is off is there something else I should take a look at while I am in there? Thanks

I would have to say everything.
Your in there already why risk it?
Your going to like the bandit.
I have it on my 124 K9 and it is nice.

I have 19k miles on the bike. Plan on doing heads next year, reason for the bandit. Other than the persistant primary leak the bike has been reliable for the most part. Stupid stuff here and there, no prob.

Kaptin, when you say everything are you talking about the stator, chain...ect? I will check all that out but was just wondering if there are hard to reach parts that would be easy to get to once the primary is off.

Thanks

Why not put on an open primary leak solved ....

Its funny you mention that, I was just talking about doing that very same thing. It will be what I do next if this does not fix it. It would be a lot easier to do if the open primary's were'nt so damn expensive!

check your transmission main shaft for any up or down movement..... Trans main bearings take a lot punishment and tend to wear prematurely.... you should feel no movement at all.

I'd pay close attention to the counter shaft bolt. There was a known problem with the 05's & 06's. BD had a service bulletin out on those 2 years. If you know the bike had the recall performed, it should be OK.

If your not sure, I'd get one from Baker & replace it while I had the primary off.

Clean- Clean- Clean. also the nut on the clutch is left hand threads, in case you weren't aware.

Thanks for the heads up Relic. I will look into it.

I am aware and I was able to get it off last night with the help of a heat gun and impact tool.

Where did you buy your seal kit from? I'm getting ready to do the same thing but I'd like to but a full blown kit with all the gaskets and seals...

If I were you I would get ahold of bigdogtech01 and see what else to check. I am having him replace my main tranny shaft and all bearings and seals. Our year bikes were known to have a weaker main shaft that would or could eventually snap.

Well got everything off and just like you mentioned I have a bit of play in the main shaft. Just slight but I can move it around. What is my next move on this?

Sounds like you need to have your main shaft bearing replaced. My 08 did the same thing and I developed a leak. I had Bobby Schulz rebuild my trans. That's why I'm doing my 05 now, i have a leak coming from my trans. If you don't fix it you'll be wasting your time because you'll still be leaking.
