Hub Nut Removal

Energy One
On my 05 chopper I was having some clutch adjustment issues and problems with it kicking down a gear under hard acceleration. I decided to go ahead and put in a bandit clutch and carrier new clutch push rod and throw out bearing.

It seems straight forward enough but I'm stuck...I know the hub nut is a left hand thread (righty loosy) but when I turn it everything turns. How do I lock it down?? Thanks in advance guys

You can try stuffing a rag between the primary chain and the main sprocket, put the bike in gear, and use the back brake if needed.

Put the front wheel against the wall and have someone sit on it while activating the brakes. That was my method when I had to tighten it. Also make sure you loosen the clutch rod before tightening down the clutch hub nut. Otherwise it will press against the throw out bearing.

Heat up the nut with a heat gun or hair dryer to loosen the loc-tite and then use an impact gun... :2thumbs:

and before re-assembly, make sure you clean both inside and outside threads before applying more loctite.:2thumbs:

Hub nut came right off no heat so I cleaned threads and red loctited it back on ...My carrier looked fine. I did notice that I had some metal missing in the same place that you have to remove some material to install the bandit super clutch (see pic). The chain was obviously rubbing in there, so I took a cut off wheel and removed a good bit (about as much as is shown in the pic) and made it look nice and smooth. I put it all back together and since I was out of supershift I used some amsoil synthetic sae 20w50. Got it all adjusted and seriously everything feels better than it ever has.

Could a loose Hub Nut cause enough play for the chain to rub against that tab on the primary cover?

You need to use a bar or pry and jam it against the carrier and the inner primary to hold it from turning
