I need some help. I'm working on a 1998 Pitbull an I'm having trouble finding parts. Its been sitting up for 2 1/2 years when I got her an now got her running again.
1. I need to know the front tire size(dry rotted).
2. How to find out what engine I got so I can look up parts. S&S motor 1500cc, S&S told me its a evolution series big twin.
3. How much oil does she hold. Looks like to me 3 quarts.

Thanks

If you give S&S the engine serial number they should be able to give you all the specs and can/will sell you a manual for the engine. They are around 25 bucks I think.

Thanks "V".
I called them and they told me that it was an Evolution series motor. Now the catalog for that year was around $125. I'll ask them for a manual. That would definitly help me out. I've also been reading mix review on tires...Avon -Cobra and Metzeler. Stlmikie helped me out with the Avon mh90/21 but what on the Metzeler?

Hey Bigchico, I have a 98 vintage ,and oil cap. is shy of 3 qts. you don't want it to full or it will blow out of the air cleaner. Metzeler's are great just kinda wear a little quick.

Thanks byrddog. But what I'm looking for is the dip stick itself. The bike has one that isn't a snug fit. It just pops off. N I really need to check the vent tubes someone told me. Says it not venting an it could be the vent to being block n building up all that pressure. I've call s&s n Bdm with no help. Bdm refereed me to custom chrome n they won't get on the phone. Irritating . The hole in the oil tank is 1 1/2 in diameter from outside of the rim. I really need to find out who the maker of the oil tank is and really find out what kind of motor this is. All I know its an Evolution big twin series

What is the issue with the oil? What makes you think the engine is not breathing?

EVO engines are sump style so you really only need the oil level to reach just above the suction line when the engine is running. As long as the oil is not below the suction line on the oil tank you shouldn't have any problems.

Jus really wanna say thanks to everyones help

Here's the story. When I start the bike up, reminding that it had sat up for over 2 1/2 yr, while standing next to it the dipstick would pop up where I could just catch it straight in front of me. So I changed the oil n filter. When I took it for a spin it poped up an sprayed me with oil. Someone told me that it might still be building pressure in the tank an it might not be venting. It won't be until this weekend till I can find out. Its parked in my friends shop.

I had a bike do the same thing ( pop the oil cap off while running ).
Turned out to be the oil vent line from engine case, to oil tank, was crimped and not breathing. Just like your friend say's.

They probably don't just pop off... When you see it you have to twist it down. It's like a caterpillar oil cap it should turn at the top while the base remains still. You may have to soften the rubber, then insert it, hold it still and twist the knob.
Anyway that's what she said...
