No experience w/a250, but we have a 2010 Street Glide and a stock 2008 K9. Wifey's preference is no contest..comfy hammock seat and tour pack backrest trumps primitive noisy Dog every time, but she is always happy to go short distances on the Dog, and enjoys the attention we always get riding it out for burgers etc.. Blacktopper has over 50K on his K9, and I have probably 30K on mine. We tour solo all the time and our touring mileage isn't remarkable when you look at some of the hardcore riders on this Forum.
The K9 doesn't handle like anything I ever rode, but just like Rhino says, I got used to it and it handles just fine. It is truly 'a handful of motorcycle', and I wouldn't recommend it as a first bike for inexperienced riders. Respect it and learn how to manage it and you'll love it.
Keep your Harley for long tours 2up...can't be beat. But when you want 'stones', loose the hounds!
Before the 2007 K-9 we rode a Road King and offcourse that was a better duobike, but the distances in Holland are not that long and besides that, you will have to stop every hour and a half for refueling. With my wife on the pad the curves are even more smooth to make. When you are driving alone you really have to pull the K-9 into the corner because it wants to go in a strait line. Now I have to learn to make the hairpins, that's another story I can tell you.....:bang:
