STRANGE

It's pretty strange and up to the individual EHC. A buddy purchased a 04 Chopper (in 2004) and I purchased a 04 Ridgeback (in 2004). I replaced my EHC after 5000+ miles:angry: and he has well over 20,000 miles on his and still on the original EHC:whoop:.

Just my luck:bang:

Would definately shy away from replacing it again, and go with the "WIRE-PLUS" Unit.

Ride safe

2012 Update: over 6 years running strong on the same, original EHC.
Still ride in the rain, still wash the scoot with hot soapy water (with the ehc box, speedo and turn signals covered) and pan on a perfect weekend riding in Oregon in a few days.

My EHC is fine. And, the WP sitting on the shelf scares it each and every day not to screw up because I'll replace you!:roll::roll:

51,000 miles on the 07 K9 no EHC problems ever. Been in a lot of rainstorms. Never a problem. I have 2 other Dogs and no problems with them either. I do have 2 spares.

08 Mutt, 8000 miles, original EHC. I bucket wash my bike and have only been in light rain a couple times. No trouble yet(knock on wood).:)

Over 24k on my'07 K9. Thought I had an EHC issue this spring when my bike died. Ended up being a bad battery and the EHC went into shut down mode as designed.
Scared me enough to place an order for the pdm. Installed it and working great.
Just sold my EHC for $350 so the net cost of pdm was just $275 and a few hours tinkering in the garage.

No problems so far. 6k miles on 08 ridgeback. Not much riding in the rain and don't use soap and water to clean it. Not sure it makes a difference.

07 with 17,000 miles. No problems. I have a wires plus on the shelf just in case. Someday I hope to swap it out before I have trouble. Driven in the rain many times. Pressure wash just about every other time I ride. Original battery even. Pushing my luck with.the battery.
