Got my first flat tire :bang: :bang:. On reassembly what should I use on the axle? Raywood mentions anti-seize in his Advanced Maintenance "How To". Really no axle specific details in the service manaul.

thanks

When I took my rear tire off the bike the axle had the anti seize stuff. It stll was a bear getting the axle out. When I put it back together I put grease on the axle and slid it in. Not sure how its gonna come back out though.

Been using Anti-seize without problem. Had people say they had problems with lubes collecting dirt and killing bearing. Only know what's working for me.

I use any muti-purpose high temp lithium axle grease that they sale at autozone or advance. all you need is a light coat to keep the axle from rusting or the wheel beerings and spacers from seizing.

Hey Todd, check out chapter 4 page 4-6 under the torque table. There you'll have it... :D :2thumbs:

Anti-seize cakes and is not that lube-able. Grease is thinner, moves without that sticky-ness. Use a thin grease to lube the whole axle.
