107 vs 117

Hey guys, looking for a little input please. Looking at trading my 04 Mastiff in on a 07 Mastiff. Love everything about my bike, but really love the look of the 300 tire and would like a little more power. I've not ridden one with the bigger tire and engine yet but have been told the difference in power is not significant and the 300 tire does not ride as well. For the with experience on both I would appreciate some input. Also would like to know what issues with the newer bike to expect, I've found an 07 with only 3800 miles that really looks good online, going to test it out Wednesday, any input would be appreciated, thanks guys.

IMO the 117 has more low end where as the 107 comes in hard in the mid range ... the over all power is very close. The 300 tire has a softer ride to me over the 250 and the handling is just about the same as the 250.

Both motors really are very similar in performance but the 107 seems to have less issues than the 117. It could be that by '07, some of the issues were worked out, but it has more proprietary BDM parts than the 107. As for the tire wearing sooner, it does, but it looks mo bad ass compared to the 250.

I've had both motors and like my 117" better ... took me a few attempts to get my clutch dialed in, but once the motor and trans connects (no slipping) it walks away from the pack :D

Rocky (my wife) has the 107 and I have the 117. Like 55, I do like mine better but Rocky's has so few issues. NOTE: Mine is an '05 model. Probably the worst year for having issues. TP rocker boxes, many issues with the main shaft, first year of the EHC of that type, first year of proprietary BDM switches and the list goes on. Avoid the '05 model if at all possible, even though I plan to never get rid of mine. It's made me into a much better mechanic, by default.

Thanks for all your input, it's a big decision for me as I like mine so much, would like to keep it and get the 07 but not sure that is very practical, or mainly that the old lady will allow it. Maybe I should "give her the 107" and get the 117 for myself.

05 with 15k. 10k of them my miles and none of those issues yet. My TP's are quiet. Same EHC, same clutch cable, same main shaft. Now, starters and batteries are a different story.

I was really thinking the same thing Jersey, but as I did the last time I found one I liked, I waited too long to go check it out, they sold it the morning I drove down to ride it. The bike was still there and damn it was sweet, guess I will keep looking.

Phil: Sometimes you have to strike, while the iron is hot. Plenty of Big Dogs around, you WILL find one. Best of luck....Guess you heard about Big Dog Tampa, closing their doors. Sad day, for all us Tampa Bay area BDM owners.

No I had not heard, but sadly it is not unexpected. Great bunch of guys over there but it just did not seem the business was there. Planned on riding over today but the threat of rain kept me in. Surely is sad to here. Best of luck to all the guys there.

Have they already closed or just made the announcement? I was going to look at the 07 K 9, great price posted on it.
