I put the Dunlop 240/40 on my 2010 bagger just to be safe (stock is 250/40) and while I like the tire, it does not fit the rim correctly. Has about an 1/8 in gap at the rim where it meets the tire. Its just a Dunlop thing, my mechanic told me they are made to fit a Harley type wheel? Doesn't make sense why it doesn't fit right, but it doesn't fit right..... Its beaded up correctly but it looks like shit. I will try a Metzeler next. Its too bad, cause I like the tread pattern. Looks isnt a big deal on my bike, cause you cant see the tire much because of the bags, but for you Ridgback or K-9 guys...you will hate it.
I mount my own tires and don't have that gap thing. I have the 250 not the 240, maybe something different other then the width. Never thought I'd go back to the Dunlop but just ordered a front and rear, my second set.
Front is on back order till 8/5.:bang:

Here is a pic of my Dunlop 240/40 18 Elite 3 Rear. Notice how the rim protrudes out from the tire. Another reason I chose this size was because it had 12/32 tread as compared to the 250/40 with 8/32 of tread. I thought I would get more miles out of the 240, but maybe they outsmarted me........by the poor fit. If the 250 fits better, I may change it out.

Nine Lives....could you put a similar pic up of your 250? I would like to see how it compares.

Oh, by the way...I measured the tread depth and it is not 12/32 as the specs show for the 240. It is really 8/32, so what is up with that??? Here are some of the specs.

Size............Recommended Rim .......Overall Diameter......Overall Width.....Tread Depth...............Maximum Load @ PSI
240/40R18......8.00.........................25.91....................9.29................12/32...........................963 @ 41
250/40R18......8.50-9.00..................26.20....................10.02...............8/32...........................1019 @ 42

Can't add any pics right now but looks like your tire is too small for your rim, I can tell you that mine does not look like that. My rim does not protrude out from the tire.
