Whatever is around when I need fuel. Unless you only go bar hoping around town, you have to be flexible to what is available out on the road. I agree with Woodbutcher in that I prefer a station with individual hoses for each grade of gas. Otherwise, you get a half gallon or more of whatever the last guy bought....and it's usually the lowest grade available.

The highest octane in Vegas is 91, but on occasion I will throw in 100 octane racing fuel. only in the winter, and mix it with a quarter to half a tank.

I usually use BP because the are the only ones around here that have separate nozzles for the different grades....as woodbutcher said I hate getting the persons before me 87 grade.

the ethanol is added right before it is put in the tanker truck that takes it to the store that sells it to the public.
same with all additives that are added to gasoline, it usually does come from the same place; the tank farm at a local refinery. the truck shows up with an order for a specific station or brand and they punch it into the computer. when they start putting the gas in the truck, it goes through a mixer and the computer adds the different additives that go in that particular brand. it adds it a little at a time and the mixer is nothing more than a bigger pipe with some baffles in it to stir things up. Tanker trucks usually have partitions in the tank, so they have 2 or three separate tanks for the different grades of gas.

I always try and use a top tier gas in all my vechicles when available, but any port in a storm.

Why TOP TIER?

The intention of the TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline standards is to create a winning situation for gasoline retailers, auto manufacturers and drivers. Currently, many gasoline retailers provide fuels with lower-quality additive packages that can build up deposits on fuel injectors and on intake valves. Others can build up deposits in combustion chambers and may lead to intake valve sticking. These lower levels of additives can have negative impacts on engine performance and vehicle responsiveness.

After reading through the feedback, I should've added at least Sunoco and "whatever." By my count, Sunoco received 3 votes and "whatever" has at least 9 votes. That kind of skews the count for "other" quite a bit. Just thought I'd point that out for the sake of fidelity.

Completely agree.

Some where I saw a pipeline map for the US. There were only a handful. Almost all Midwest was only one if I recall. Ill post if I can find it.

I am very skeptical of the "additives".

They have a tanker truck of gas and a beaker of "Additives". I would argue that it makes little to no difference.

I live near the lake and I'm able to get ethanol free 93 octane. Family owned store so not sure who they buy their gas from. Just like the fact it is ethanol free. If out on the road what whatever I can get.

I use Sunoco 93 and mix it with Sunoco racing fuel (112 octane) and my chop runs great. The exhaust pipes are nice and white instead of black and never have to worry about ethanol. Plus the high octane fuel at most gas stations have been in the ground (tank) longer that what is acceptable and degrades it's self. The mixing of racing fuel (1 gal to 3) really does help. Plus the exhaust smell creates conversation :)

In North Shreveport we have a business that wholesales gas, Smith Oil. We buy gas, oil, & Diesel from them. They also sale 100 octaine racing fuel. I usually keep 20 gallons of this stuff at my farm. I get it for $3.45 a gal. Runs GREAT in the lawn mower and other stuff a lot better than the ethanol shit. I run it in the Dog & the Hog. I also bring 30 gallons to Sturgis every year. In the mornings I top off and reset the odometer to 0. Then as we ride using fuel I try to find the 1/2 way point for our millage as the day goes by and knowing the distance I get on a tank of fuel I calculate so I usually grab some fuel ( super unleaded) to get back so I'm either on reserve or close to it. Then the next morning grab one of the 5 gallons of 100 octaine & fill the bikes up again for the next day.
