I had a long talk with S&S about these exact tubes. The Techno nerd said, " in the summer it should keep the oil 170-200* depending on if I'm in the city, heavy traffic, or on the open road. During the winter, he said bikes up north where the winter days are much colder, 28*-35* have a hard time getting oil tempatures into the 120* range with out oil coolers while in the south a average winter temp of 55* would allow the oil to get in the 160*-200* range. He finished saying, "It depends where you ride and when you ride. The oilcooler adds 2/3 of a quart more with 10*-15* cooler tempatures. as for last summer having 110*-115* outdoor tempatures, yes a cooler would help. But honestly when the tempature is that hot who really is going to ride!
