I agree ajo771 the Ballistic bikes are bad ass, but for 100gs how much are you gonna ride it and when the old blue hair pulls out in front of you it might get pricey trying to fix the thing.
I also looked at big bear but went with the dog and am still happy i did.

Believe it or not the reason I went with Big Dog was the "production" factor. I wanted a bike I could ride and not worry about reliability. Also, the stability of the company came into play. Everybody seems worried about AIH factory & BDM dealer closings. I say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Before I bought my Dog I knew BDM was reducing production, and seeing their new 08 line up aimed more at the mass market I bet BDM will be around for a long time. Imaging the people that bought the first Harleys among all the motorcycle companies then.

I should have probably bought stock in BDM instead of buying a Chopper.

Watch out, Gas Man - there's that SMILE! How long do you really think she's gonna be satisfied with that Sporty, now that she's seeing the more expensive alternatives?

I was thinking that but I thought I would keep quiet!

Don't know about you boys, but I recall hearing that the Big Bear bikes had alot of problems with the frames, with bad welding and such. Seems I even remember something about someone having a neck come off at one time...for the life of me I can't remember where I read it though.

I haven't heard that but I can tell you those frames and parts are built like a tank.

All the plates on a BBC are 3/8" inch plate! I think the frames are .250 wall thickness. And the tanks are 12 gauge, they are heavy.
A lot beefier than my Phaugho frame and tanks I had for my HD and my BD I have now. There is nothing built light or cheap on a BBC or at least there isn't on my brothers Merc. :2thumbs:

re

The Big Bear Venom Chopper, the CC hardcore II and the Ridgeback were my choices which I narrowed down to the obvious. At the time the Revtech 100 was the stock motor for BB and it was an upgrade to for the S&S which helped me make my decision.

Gas...she looks like she's tall enough to ride off on the one she's on in the picture.

I was a Bourget's yesterday (they are a BBC dealer) and they have that exact Athena in the first post. Looks pretty good. But they also had an Athena Chopper - that did not work for me - The Dogs look much better IMHO. Noticed the smaller engine right away... I guess they build them all to California specs?
