2004 service manual big waste of $

Energy One
I just received my 04 and earlier service manual paid 127.00 (now on sale from bdpp , just my luck if it was raining pussy i get hit with a dick) and there is some good information in it but for 127.00 not worth it. What a rip off. I would have to say most of the how to on this site are by far better done than the service manuals! Thanks to all the forums members who take the time to post the how to's.

Sorry to hear that Paul, but I think most of us would agree that the 2007/2008 manuals would be more beneficial to you. I have an 05 and 08 manual and the 08 manual far exceeds the 05 instruction and picture wise.

:iagree: I've got the 06, 07 & 08 Service Manuals, and the latest is far better! My bike is an 06 but they do help regardless.

Yep...I had posted that awhile back. 04 manual wothless, the 05-06 is much better most of the information applies just some slight differences cam sensor in 04, etc. If you got the 04 get an 08 manual and that way for any differences between 08 and 04 you can reference 04. 08 manual is really good lots of diagrams, etc

Option #2

For that amount of $$, spend it on ink & paper and print your own manual
using the info from this forum and the available downloads on-line. You will come out well ahead of the game.

I have the 06 BDM Service Manual, but I also have the Super Sidewinder Plus 4 1/8 for Engines- 124,117, 111 Cubic Inch service manual from S&S which is what I use when working the engine. The BDM manual is a guide which will provide some help, but not the greatest. I have been able to take care of most issues with what I have. However, I often go to BDM Performance site and use their exploited view on parts. Here you can find the part # and what most of the bike looks like when disassembled. That area has been of big help to me. Most all part Numbers that have a hyper link are still available. If it says Please Call than you may be up shit creek without a paddle. :D

Did it come with a nice binder that had the Big Dog logo on it ?
I have the 04 manual - a friend gave it to me he actually begged me to get it out of his shop. He used to be a Big Dog service shop here in NY. BDM started ripping him off on hours for warrantee work - he dumped them .
Nice binder though :)

by itself, the BDM service manual is not that great. better would be if you had that manual along with the S&S evo manual and the baker transmission manual. the BDM you can probably get from "bigdogpartsking".
