Do you mean the starter wire/ingnition wire to the starter switch? If that is the one you are referring to then yes.

Do mean everything is dead? Be more specific please.

There is something not hook up right. Did you put the ground cable coming from the battery back on the starter mount bolt?

Yeah.. its connected. Your right.. somethings not hooked up right... But there's not much to it. I'm a novice mechanic and I am at a loss!

One wire at a time.... I had it happen to...just check every connection in that cluster of wires...I had pulled one apart when I took the starter off... ( pulling the ship OUT of the bottle ) :)

Do you have any fuses on you bike that might have blown while changing out the starter. If you do check them all.

Some of the Bourgets have a safety lockout system....Bike needs to be in neutral to energize the starter...did you check your neutral sending unit on top of the trans or maybe the connection is loose

first I no you said battery is good, but a lot of the problems come from bad battery or just bad connection ( is it more then 3 or 4 years old ). start by checking with meter or test light for power at battery then follow one wire at a time to other end and check for power. If you have power at one end and not the other find break in wire and or replace, remember never use smaller wires then is there already, but you can use bigger with in reason.

Check your key switch, and the connections to it. Pull it off and make sure you're getting continuity through the "RUN" position. Other than an obvious bad connection at the battery, that is the only other thing that will give you a dead bike.

I think Moe is on the right track here. Make sure you're getting power to the key switch and then when you turn the key on, make sure power is transferring over to the output side of the switch.

Great news! Glad you found it and just in time for Memorial Day riding. And a great big "Thank You" to all our servicemen and women out there and may God rest the souls of those that gave everything.
