Tire Changers in Twin Cities (MN) area?

Hey Twin Cities riders...

Anyone know of a good dependable shop that will put on my new 300 rear tire I just received from Dennis Kirk?

My regular shop will only do tires that you buy directly through them. But to be fair to them, I called a couple of Harley dealers, and they won't do it either.

I wish I had known that before I bought the tire from DK. :bang:

Thanks

Just use a Harley dealerships.
Ours has one that will do the 300s and is touch less for a lack of works.
Charges me $30 to change it out. I have them pour my dyna beads in when they do it so no need for tire weights.
I have had 4 done there with no issues.

"Semore's in Alma Wi will do it "

Thanks for the response RGW, but looking for something closer to home.

Trying to avoid an extra $50 gas just to haul it there and back.

Well that does suck..
Did they say there machine is not capable of a 300 or something else.
I had one tech tell me at the place I go they could not do it but he must of been the ones assigned that day and was being lazy I guess.
I asked how come they have done the other ones for me and he looked puzzled..
Got with the service manager and he had one of the other techs take care of it pronto....
We do have have a nice machine here at that dealership. No need to remove the rear pulley either...

Each dealer service gave me the same excuse - Liability concerns. They will not be responsible for the safety of a tire that did not originate from their shop.

Simply sounds like a convenient excuse to make extra cash, to me.

I had Gilby's in River Falls do one for me a few years back with no issues. But it was a 250 tire.

If you can't find someone to do it, get a NO-MAR Tire changer. Put it on your Birthday or Xmas list because it does cost a bunch. I just changed my 330mm tire with ease. I do have plenty of tires to change around here so it makes sense for me. My friends also come over.

Man those things are like $1,300.

For most people it completly doesn't make sense. $30-$40 at any decent shop should be able to mount it. I gotta change 40+ tires before I even brake even on the damn machine. Just doesn't make sense for a DIY'er. Plus they are not small:rant:

I got the same responce from the local Harley dealer (couldn't do a 300). I ended up doing mine by hand in the garage. My cousin had his done at a custom / high end car wheel store. They did lots of the 20's etc with no sidewall and it was no problem (charged $10 and did a nice job).

Neil, who's your Harley dealer (I'm also in TN). I don't want to remove the pulley or hubs with the next change.

I bought the Jr Pro Tire Changer for $695 and free shipping from the vintage bike show at Barber in 2009. I see this model has gone up to $845 on the website. Try working a deal with them. I was able to get $100 off.

Also, this is not for everyone. I just have 5 bikes, change my own tires, and balance them. I don't want anyone messing up a wheel and NO MAR will not mess up your wheel. I used to use the Harbor Freight motorcycle tire changer attachment which will scratch up your wheel.
