Quick question, I left the gas on and it was driping on the floor, clean the engine off and the floor turn the gas off and no driping, is there something wrong? Or is that normal when you forget to turn off the gas. 2007 AIH

Thanks in advance

No- I would check the gas hose line and all fittings. Did you over fill the tank and when you put down the kickstand it might be leaking from the gas cap?

There is an overflow tube on the carb?? Someone with more tech knowledge will chime in but with the dog I think the fuel valve is considered a high volume feed??? so if you leave it open when not running it will flood the carb hence the overflow tube??

Left the gas on for two days and didn't know until I went into the garage and smelt gas, turn it off and no leaking. Thanks guys for your time, just wanted to make sure, everthing is ok.

Your carb has a float valve in it, so when the bowl is full, it shuts the valve. If the valve sticks open, gas will come out of the overflow tube, which is usually routed to the bottom of the motor. That would explain gas on the floor. If you have gas on the engine, then it's coming from up higher, like the fuel line or at the petcock. Clean it all off, determine where the leak is, then get back to us so we can tell you what to do.

Thanks, just checked it and no more leaks with the gas off. It was leaking around that chrome thing right under the petcock. But no more leaks with the gas off. Thanks guys in advance as you can tell im no mechanic. lol

Then your line is probably loose or damaged where it attaches to "the chrome thing", what we call a "petcock". Leave the petcock off, loosen the hose clamp holding the line on, remove the line, inspect it for tears or holes, re-attach it, tighten the hose clamp, turn the petcock to "ON" or "RES", and check for leaks.

I wish I had more money.
I'm with Moe. It needs attention. If it leaks there while it is in the on position it will wet the engine. We just had a member who had to buy a new bike cause his last burst into flames while he was riding. He had to bail and the bike kept going until it ran off the road and was totaled. If not for your own safety for the others that may be affected by such an incident.

The Gas was leaking below the petcock from the two inch chrome thing that the gas flows through, If that helps solve why it leaked.

Yes it looked like it was coming from the fuel filter, do i need a new filter? Or did gas leak from there because i left the petcock open for a few days?

There is nothing wrong with leaving your petcock open, I do for months at a time. Check the fuel filter in the same manner that I described above. You have a frayed or bad line, or the filter itself is bad. Take it all apart, and the problem should be obvious.

His bike isn't fuel injected is it? If so, those quick couples are a pain if not seated right.
Nope. Don't think AIH ever graduated to EFI.

If it is like my chopper, there is no reserve. Just left and right sump from the tank.

I just flip the feed every time I get gas to keep the valve from getting stuck.
