Dog's New Digs/Anniversary

So I am approaching my 1 year of ownership of the dog coming up this weekend. Figured I'd recap the year, trials and tribulations. Just wanted to first and foremost say Thank You to everyone who has helped me over the past year with any issues or dumb ass questions. I really appreciate it the members here have a slew of knowledge they so willingly offer up. I have a learned a few things and I plan to give back to the forum and will continue to do so.

Anyways picked up back on April 2nd at Dream Machines in Austin I traded in a CBR600RR in Dallas and my awesome GF drove me down to Austin from Dallas to pick it up. Here she is (3600 miles on her): (Side Note we had just starting dating a few months back and the first time I met her Father I showed up on this!) Would you let me date your daughter?

On the way back from Austin I was having a blast, couldnt wipe the fuckin smile off my face. Stopped and got gas for the second time and she didn't start - No clicking, No Nothing, DOA! I just thought I had made the worse mistake of my life spending all this money for this paperweight. I managed to find a hillbilly in the middle of texas that helped me push start it, pushing a brand new to me Dog was not fun.

I took it back to Dream Machines in Dallas - Replaced the Starter and back on the road

Went on a few more trips and odds and ends only put about 2,000 miles on it in the first year as the summer in Texas was like riding in a blast furnace.
Parents came down and let the old man take it out with my mother they loved brought him back to their childhood days (This is them)

Next up was MODS:
First was the Sissy Bar & Struts - Struts got em on ebay from Shovelhead and LukeDM had the Sissy Bar! Was a lot more work than anticipated to get these on.

Planeed a trip in the fall with the GF barely made it out of city limits and I had to have a friend come pick me up. Bike kept shutting down - I rented a UHAUL grabbed my truck and towed her home.

After much searching and help on the forum I found out there was a recall for 04's and the main power harness would come loose and power would shut down intermitantly. I ziptied it to the EHC and it worked like a charm! And Continued to ride till I could do wireplus in the WINTER.

Built a shelf in the garage to have more work space for my Dog

Wireplus went in on Presidents day Saw 50 wires and said fuck! Thanks to Jake I had a great how to and it took 10 hrs but is complete. (Used the Simple Kit, still need to redo the ignition)

Next New Grips and Pegs/D&M Intake/FSD Exhaust
This was just completed over the weekend! She really sounds good now

Here is me on the last ride - Rode 450 Miles and not a problem - The most satisfaction I have ever had :whoop:

Thanks to all the vendors and members who have helped me along the way with parts or stupid questions. I intend to keep bugging you all :D

LukeDM - Sissy Bar
Sterling Seats - P-Pad
Jake - Wire Plus
Frankie Serrano - FSD Exhaust

GOOD TO SEE YOU GETTING OUT ON SOME LONG RUNS WITH THE HOUND. That is quite a jump from a CBR to a chopper.
Good idea letting the folks ride the scoot, and I will offer that to my folks as he rode all his life, winter and summer, to work and everywhere.

Great looking scoot and good to read another positive story about these hounds and their masters.:2thumbs:

I never rode the CBR I bought it an impulse buy had always wanted a chopper just couldn't afford it at the time. Hated the CBR I dont need to do 180 MPH. As you can see from my membership I have been on here since 09 but didn't buy until 2011, I've been dreaming :D even before 09.

Yep got to let me the old man ride my dog, he lets me ride his Harley's when I am home.

Good read, thanks for sharing the ups n downs.
Nice to see the younger riders getting into Choppers and
selling the crotch rockets - I hate to hear about the accidents every summer.

Now about your avatar - is that your girlfriend hitch hiking with the cowboy hat ?
If so what highway is that and what are her comuteing days and times . :)

They were not accidents they were adventures. I learned a ton about the bike just troubleshooting and fixing, rewarding experience. Time will only tell if I did everything right

Sorry to dissapoint that is not her  No clue who it is and I'm pretty sure she doesn't have a name

This however is her from the trip this weekend. Haven't gotten her to take any better pictures yet with the Dog
