I got an email from a Harley shopabout 100 miles away last week. The special was buy a tire and pay $1.00 installation. I called them and told the service manager I wanted a Viper front tire 21' for my Big Dog chopper. They said, "no problem, it will be here on Saturday and we will install it between 2-3pm." So Saturday I road over to get my new tire. After waiting 2.5hrs a mechanic cam out and actuall said, "are you sure you want this blem tire on this chopper"? WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went and looked at the tire, there stamped on the side wall, BLEM . I went to the service desk and asked the service manager, why the hell didn't you tell me this was a blem tire. That bike cost me $38k and you want me to put a fucking blem tire on it, have you lost your fucking mind???????????? I then showed him the blem problem, the side wall was over layed. It would have poped the rim bead on the first bad bump I hit ruining my front rim. Guy's there are no deals in life, and if you think so just dig deep and you'll find there's always a catch!:job:

What does blem mean exactly? I always took it as the lettering was messed up or something?

Tire's marked as BLEM are blemmished tires. This means a number of different things from messed up side lettering, to seams overlapping where tire was vulconized together (this was the case I found, tire had a 3/4'' overlap on both sidewalls), to a tire marked incorrectly, to a tire that could never be ballanced with out 5 pounds of weight on it. The Dept of transportation has deamed them safe for the highways, But there are no warranties on these tires and your pretty much just asking for trouble. YOU ARE 100% AWARE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TIRE, YOU JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT!

Roger. I always just took it as a cosmetic thing. I used to run blend on an old trans am. I looked at them and more times than not I couldn't see the blem. I see where with the blend it is better safe than sorry.
